Yes I agree customers are total dumbasses, the government or state should implement a mandotary 1 yr in customer service jobs to every citizen like probation, when they do come out everyone (hopefully) be better customers and citizens..

I have still yet to use this one but I saw it on Seinfeld again the other day. A telemarketers call Jerry he begins to talk to the person for a minute or two then he says he has to go and asks for the reps home phone number so he can call them later at home. The rep states that they do not give out their personal numbers and jerry interrupts and say "ohhh because you don't want anyone calling you at home right? Now you know how I feel!"

I want to use a variation of that on a customer, ask them where they work and then say i'll be in next week for my discount since i'm such a good customer and have been buying from there for soo long. Just to see that look of utter confusion on their face would be priceless.
Good things comes to those who wait.....but they only get whats left behind by those who hustle.

In response to the customer who came in right after closing, what I love even more are the door bangers in the morning. The sign on our door clearly states our hours, every day. Yet, it never fails that about 15 minutes before we open, we get someone out there peering through the glass wondering what we're doing and why the doors are locked if we're in the store. Then they get all huffy when we don't let them in.

I had a guy come into my store at 8:01 a few days ago. We close at 8PM. I always keep the doors open until I finish my paperwork and get everything wrapped up to leave. I was in the back of the store and did not see him come in. I should mention I was the only one in the store at the time. When I came up front I saw the guy's daughter first and asked if there was anything I could help with. She said no, her Dad was the one who was looking for a phone. I approached him and asked if he had any questions I could help him with. He responded, "No, I'm just looking." So I told him that I was getting ready to close and that if he had any questions to let me know. He responded loudly, "Are you trying to rush me out of the store??!!" I said, "No, I was just asking if you had any questions and letting you know that actually I closed at 8PM. I'd be happy to help you with any questions you might have." He says, "Screw this!! You don't want my business, I'm out of here." As he stormed out the door he yells, "Great fu$%ing customer servcie!!" I said, "What can I say sir, you bring out the best in me!!" He started getting out of his car like he wanted to fight me or something, so I just locked the door, as he pounded loudly on it, screaming profanities. I love my job.

Is it just me or does bad weather drive in the retarded customers. On sunny days were slow all day but as soon as we have tornado warnings people rush to our store. Were packed when it's raining out. And people come flying into the parking lot like were giving away a million dollars

This is easily the funniest thread in all of HoFo! Sometimes I can't believe some of the stories you guys tell. I have a job in a small computer shop, lots of random people walking in from the street. Since taking that job, I've learned plain and simple that people are idiots. They don't listen to you, insist they know what they're talking about or want us to do everything for free. I have a couple of stories but none of them are as good as these.

    Retail in 2009:

1.) Give me whatever I want for free.

2.) You're in business to furnish me with new equipment for the rest of my life.

3.) I bear no responsibility for the usage of my service, the actions of my children or anything I sign.

4.) I am insulted that you would send me a bill. And nobody ever in the history of organized commerce bills a month in advance except Verizon.

I hate to use words like "retarded," but the OP is right. People are just shockingly dumb.

We did lower the standards in the education system, that's where the retarded people are coming out of.. Also, doesn't help that every single commercial you see on tv says that the customer is right etc.. Hence people apply that concept to everything.. I prefer to fire my customers

I refer to it as "The dumbing of America"
If I'm annoyed and you're annoyed, does that make us a paranoid ??

    Sarcasm is a fine art...

that is soooo freaking true man!!! We once had an ice freeze, ppl still came in before we even opened knocking on the windows just to make a payment.

That would really grind my gears..then they would walk outside into the rain still talking on their cell, turn around the next day and ask us why their phone had water damage, idiots!

so i had a good one today. took a lot of effort not to laugh and make the customer look retarded. Middle aged guy walks in, wearing a nice suite and tie. I call him and he comes up to my computer. He starts this long rant about how hes been with verizon for 10 years and is so tired of having problems with all of his phones. My first thought was "ok i guess he probably has a problem with his phone shutting off or his charging port or messed up". Well after about 5 minutes of him going on about how Verizon is screwing him out of his money and that hes thinking about switching to sprint since his friend never has any problems with his phone, I ask him what problems he was having. I looked at his account and saw that he had the coupe. So i was thinking that there couldnt be too many things that it could be. Well he tells me that he put the phone on the charging cradle last night and when he woke up his phone still wasn't charged. i asked if i could see his phone, and he handed it too me with the charger(atleast he's smart enough to bring the charger unlike 90% of people who apparently think that a charger can never be the problem)
So i took the phone and charger from him. When i took the phone and flipped it over there was no battery cover or battery.
I said "do you have the battery for the phone sir?"
    He says "What battery".
i said,"the battery for the phone."
He says, "i dont know what your talking about".

So i show him the phone and point out that his battery and battery cover were not there. He looked at me like he was completely lost. I told him that in order for the phone to charge he would have to have a battery in the phone. He said to me that he thought it was in there. So i take his phone and put one of our test batteries in the phone and put it on the charger and everything charged up fine. Then he gets an attitude and starts going off on me about how stupid it is for verizon to design phones with removable batteries. I tried to explain to him that it is cheaper for him to have to replace a battery in the future then having to buy a whole new phone just because of a battery going bad. I gave him the analogy of a tv remote having removable batteries so that if the battery dies you dont have to go out and buy a new remote. So i tell him that i could sell him a new battery for 39.99 and he gets all loud about how that should be covered under the manufacture warranty. So i tell him that the warranty doesnt cover lost parts on the phone since that is not a defect in the product, but caused by abuse or carelessness. At this point i just want to get the guy out of my face since apparently he just wants to make arguments about everything instead of just realizing that he lost the battery. So another 5 minutes goes by and he finally tells me to give him his phone and he'll go to walmart and get a battery there for cheaper. I hand him his phone and charger and he walks out mumbling how ridiculous it is.
20 minutes later he walks back in and slams the phone on the counter and says "you can have your piece of crap phone back, since you cant seem to honor your policy." I stated to him that he would need to calm down or we would need to ask him to leave.
He says " Just cancel my line, so i can take my service to sprint, im sure they atleast treat there customers with more respect and actually have a policy about giving a customer batteries when they get lost. Im sure im not the first person to lose a battery."
So i tell him, "well sir ill be more then happy to cancel your number but it is not a common problem that batteries are lost, i do need to make you aware that there will be a 105.00 etf to cancel that number. So then he gives me the "why would i have to pay to go somewhere else when its not my fault.
He grabs his phone and storms out of the store.

Of all things that ive been yelled at about, ive never had to hear a customer get that heated about a battery that they lost and for almost 2 days failed to realized that was missing. I mean if i lost my battery i would atleast be able to notice that its not there. I love my job, it makes me happy to know that im not that dumb. Plus the situation made for some good laughs for our other customers that were there.
Well I work for Sprint, I sure do hope he comes into my store one day with no battery in the phone. "Yes sir that will be 39.99."
