Fido does not have H+ antennas, hence this will not work but the BB will be using the fastest speed possible

You would have received the exact same speed with Fido using that same berry. Rogers & Fido = one network.

renewing contract after switching 6g data to 6g bb data

Hi, I'm currently one year into my three year contract for my iphone 4 and I would like to switch to a blackberry just to try it out and see what its like.

I called fido and they said they could switch my normal 6gig data plan to the BB 6gig data anytime before the end of the month (October).

What would happen if i wanted to renew my contract in the future for the next iphone and the 6gig data plan isn't offered anymore? Would I have any issue? I know you need a data plan to get a "smart phone", would they let me renew my contract for an iphone with a blackberry data plan?

The reason why I'm asking is because my brother is with Rogers and they wouldn't let him renew for an iphone with a blackberry 6gig data plan. He tried to renew sometime last year when the 6gig data promotion was over and all they could offer him was 1 gigs for the same price.

    Thanks for reading!

^ Sometime you get a Jabroni Rep, who has no idea what they are talking about. if you have a blackberry data plan its works with all devices and having a blackberry data on your account should not make a difference which hardware you can upgrade to.

My wife and I both have Blackberry Plans - she has an Android, and I have an Iphone 4. It works fine. Do it. When/ if you decide you want to go back to an iphone, just reactivate the microsim with your info. Don't even bother calling to change plans etc...it'll just confuse the matter.
I'm not telling you anything that you can't just google for yourself

^^actually its also preferable to have the BB version simply because you can interchange between phones; whereas the SM data plan ie iOS is nor BB enabled.

Wanting to change my 'pay as you go' plan on my BB9700 (which is an unlocked Rogers BB). This plan is for my teenage university student. Why can't I get BOTH Social Networking and push Email, along with BBM and at least 100mb data as add-ons? Every provider including Fido which I am currently with are making people choose and not be able to 'have it all'. Anyone know why?

Probably due to a business decision. If you want all that, you better migrate on a monthly plan & add the B.I.S $25.00 Data for 500MB.

    Hope this can help...

OK, I figured they all had a conspiracy to get people to lock into a contract, which I am not doing for a 19 year old who changes her mind every time we're a few months into the contract. Thanks for the answer.

As per Fritz's suggestion, I'm going to report this here...

anyone using a bb bold 9900 on fido?

been reading that people with an unlocked rogers 9900 will always roam on rogers.

also read that people with an unlocked telus/bell 9900 will not roam.

reason i ask is from what i have researched, if the bb is roaming, it will only have 3G. if your not roaming, you can get H+.

i'm trying to figure out how some people with an unlocked 9900 is getting H+ on fido.

i'm using an unlocked telus 9900 on fido but am roaming and only getting 3G.

if i manually switch the mobile network to fido, the phone goes into sos.

i have tried multiple os. only thing i havent tried is a new sim. current sim is like 10 years old.

Change your SIM. My gf has the Rogers 9900 unlocked on Fido (recent SIM). It doesn't display "roaming" and she has it set to "Automatic" network and 3G/H+ only.

I have an unlocked 9900 on Fido. I only see "3G" except in a very few areas where H+ shows up.

For those Vancouverites, that would be in the "Highgate" area of Burnaby. Weird.

Anyone tethering with a 9900 on Fido?
