Yeah I'm pretty sure you need a docomo USIM to use the WiFi.

don't you need the docomo UIM to access the internet, therefor making the WIFI useless?

Everyone's on their own for hypersims. I'm out har har har har har~~~~
Shouldn't it just be a matter of making a "for N906iL" HyperSIM that mimics an active UIM to get the WiFi going?
wouldn't that mean the internet would work on all docomos if that was the case?
Not exactly. I mean just fooling the phone enough that it allows access to WiFi-based functions (VoIP, internet). Because pretending to be an active UIM in order to use i-mode on someone else's dime is illegal.
you would still need to be able to access docomo's browser, you can't do that without the UIM. Wouldn't you still need docomo's settings? Maybe I should clarify how the n906iL wifi works first
Hmmm... From ITMedia's review it's apparently supposed to pass everything through the i-mode gateway, making it impossible to use without a UIM. But other places say that the full (not i-mode) browser doesn't do this, making it theoretically possible to use.
...Ah! A VoIP wiki says that it (full browsing and VoIP) will work without a card inserted (if you don't have an active one, I'm guessing). So you can pull out the SIM and have an IP phone (it works with SIP-based services, like Gizmo, not Skype).
that would be a cool voip phone.. maybe I'll set up a bunch of n906iL for my home phones!
That would be one expensive, but very nice home phone.
I'd visit your and steal your home phones![]()
