flashing TM506 to Cin Bell version tutorial

this one is mostly same as S.D., but I do some more modification

---Preparation---

you need to have
SE DCU-60 or 65 cable
xml editor (I use Peter's XML editor)
a2uploader http://filebeam.com/753605a9b5c6a7d46ffd3a0c7821e14d
an M2 card (for backing up stuffs)
fully charged battery (just in case the power runs out, the flashing may take 30 mins without optional procedure)
SEUS (Sony Ericsson Update Service)

you have to open XML editor, combine the contents in these 3 threads

highlight EVERYTHING within "code", copy, and paste onto editor
if you want to do some changes, do it now (like changing <allowed-language>, or delete more Cin Bell related stuffs)
once it's done, save as
Customize.xml
Customize_upgrade.xml

install SEUS if you didn't do it before, don't run it yet
after installation, unpack and run a2uploader
turn the phone off, prepare USB cable, click "File System Tool", press and hold 2 when connecting cable, you should see hardware installation if you never did it before, or just a hardware plugged sound, a2uploader should start
go to /tpa/preset/custom folder
put Customize_upgrade.xml in there
shut down File System on a2uploader

after that, turn the phone on, wait for a couple of minutes, once the phone displays standby screen, backup everything you need, and this is the last chance before flashing
go to contacts-more-advanced-backup to m card
if you have something stored on the phone, copy to memory card NOW
you can turn the phone off

It looks like to make easy thing complicated.
Just simple copy Customize_upgrade.xml to the phone /tpa/preset/custom folder with a2uploader. then your phone is ready to upgrade. follow SE upgrade service wizard instruction. *DONE*
No XML editor needed. Microsoft Notepad is good enough.

---Flashing and Post Flashing---

once you finished backup, it's time to run the most important part: flashing
WARNING: do this with your risk, any minor mistake can permanently ruin your phone!!!
now start SEUS, you may have to wait for a few minutes to get update
once it started, choose flip form, TM506
same procedure as you did with a2uploader, take the battery out, put it back in, prepare USB cable, press and hold 2 when connecting, as you're instructed
if everything goes well, you should see the model displays "AMERICA-BAND1-4", as well as you can see "re-install software", do it of course, it takes about 10-15 minutes
once it's completed, unplug USB cable once, remove the battery, and put it back in

DO NOT TURN THE PHONE ON YET!

now run a2uploader again, run "File System Tool", same old way to connect (press and hold 2 and connect)
now go to /tpa/preset/custom folder again, delete the following files
2 DESKTOP_HOOK.itm files
1 Cinbell*.jpg file
original Customize.xml file (you may want to grab the file, just in case), put the modified Customize.xml in
turn the phone on, it takes about 5-7 minutes to configure everything, then you can do post flashing settings, make sure you have to check internet setting, you should see ALL 4 internet profiles
then go to messaging setting, you should see T-Zones on MMS profile

on menu, the 2 icons from top left should be
t-zones (you may not see the icon with some flash themes) Internet

---Optional---
if you decide to add other language, you can modify Customize.xml, do it right after flashing to avoid hassle, you need to get the language files you want, and know the code
on <allowed-language>, you can add more lines to add the language you want
put the font files, with associated fonts.xml to
/tpa/preset/system/fonts
as well as .lng files to
/tpa/preset/system/language

note: some language may not work properly, if you need .lng file, get files from C902 R3DA, make sure ALL the files are lower case

install flash themes
if you have some themes with associated .swf files (TM506 only works with flashlite 2.0), put the following files to
.swf: /tpa/preset/system/desktop/flash
.thm: /tpa/user/themes or your memory card /themes

This kind of goes along, borrowed from the other thread and tried to make it relevant to this one. (from Romeo0119’s debranding post):

Unzip the above after you debrand, then you can use the A2uploader after you put in Scottish’s Customize thing and pop battery out, now you can add the:

SWF (shockwave) files to: tpa/preset/system/desktop/flash

Theme Files to: tpa/user/theme.

Then disconnect and redo battery and power on.

Now I have a nicer menu with flash files and EDGE/GRPS/HSDPA indicators. No more T-mobile junk and the google maps and Opera work flawlessly! Thanks goes out to Scottish, SD and Romeo0119!

So i tried following the instructions and after doing the post flash stuff where you delete the HOOK files, once i start up the phone it gets to a screen where it says "Configuration error. Please contact your service provider or service center."

um.. every time I try to hold c and insert usb cable, I hear the hardware chime 3 times quickly, the A2 does nothing, and after a bit it boots as usb mass storage....
any thoughts?

update: DCU-60 is my cable, so I do not think thats the reason.

As it says in post #1, you need to hold down the 2 key (not the c key). You should follow the instructions exactly.
