*22890 not working for me ???

    Hi all,

I just ported a number to page plus (from virgin mobile) onto a nokia 2865i which was from alltel.
I am in upstate NY where I had used the phone roaming when it was with alltel last year.
Page plus tells me my port is complete and to program the phone with *22890

But when I try to do this I get an alltel recording telling me to double dial.
That is funny I think as I never got alltel recordings last year but rather verizon recordings telling me to double dial.

Anyway... I am assuming that because the phone thinks it is roaming it is not letting me program with *22890.
Is there any way to get around this?
If I take the phone to a native alltel area will it work?

    Any thoughts at all appreciated.

    Thanks
    Mike

Try *228, option 1 I think. Where I live *22890 never works on my phone. What happens if you double dial the number?

    @madmatt

Awesome... you're my hero for the weekend!
A gold star and karmic upgrade for you.
    The *228 option 1 worked a treat.
    I'm all set.
    Thanks very much!

I was trying to decide if I had any rational reason to drive to northwest Connecticut or if I was going to bother mailing it down to some family in Georgia.

    Thanks again,
    Mike

Sometimes you need to try other numbers, like
    *228 (Generic)
    *22890 (PagePlus)
    *22800
    *22801
    *22802

This is due to the network settings in your area, as in Preferred A or B.

*22890 puts you into *228 Option 1 automatically for OTA Programming.
*22891 puts you into *228 Option 2 auotomatically for PRL Updates.

    *228 + 1 says "Welcome to Verizon."
    *22890 doesn't.

That's the only difference as far as I can tell. Sometimes *22890 doesn't work for me.

Dude! 1 day of posting and you've already asked the same exact question 3 times in the wrong forum. Please give it a rest (or use the correct sub-forum).
