A lot of phones have had the ability to disable the shutter sound removed. There was legislation proposed in the US and EU to make it illegal to turn off the sound.

As the title says, I'm trying to find a way to turn the shutter sound off on the VA76r. My v3 had an option for this, but I can't find one on the VA76r. Any ideas?

Is there a way around it though? A way to edit the registry or at least make it so it's not so incredibly loud?
Seriously? Nobody knows how to hack this thing??? Even a nudge in the right direction would be helpful.
It runs Montavista 2.6.10 Linux, but I can't figure out how to edit the system settings from my computer.

you need to use p2kcommander and connect to the phone, then figure out what file the shutter sounds are on the phone and delete them. Theres probably a configuration to add "remove" option to the camera menu but thats more work than just deleting the tones.
The VA76r uses Linux, not P2K. I need to know how to edit mobile linux on the phone from my computer.
p2k commander works with linux thats why i told you to use itOriginally Posted by ltig99
Okay I'll see if I can make it work.
I found the files with p2k Commander, they're in P2k:/usr/data_resource/sound/ui_sounds/
However, I can't change the attributes or delete the files. Any ideas?
Those files are read only.
Have you tried some of the Moto modding websites? You might want to head over to Modmymoto.com or mmus.us.
if you want tell me what firmware you have on your phone. I will get that firmware take CG52 (the sector with all the ui sounds and stuff) and make a reflash for you.
Not sure why your phone is in p2k mode, if you have a linux phone it should be something like /ezxlocal/
I'd prefer to do this without reflashing the phone. Is there no way to edit read-only files without a flash?
someone has to remove the rsa protection from the phone or firmware and honestly that phone is on no ones to do list
Okay well how do I find out which firmware version I have?
