    according to the Sprint website..

"Addresses the issue with the external display not turning off and an issue when exiting Sprint TV. "

If this is the ONLY fix to the software I will NOT be happy

And some people still wonder why Moto and Sprint are doing so poorly.

This kind of BS -- making users wait 6+ months for a software update that only fixes two issues -- is the perfect example of old-world wireless thinking. Ugh. Since I don't have either of these issues, I'm not touching this one unless someone reports back that there are more improvements.

Still, good news for people affected by this.

I only started having the issues listed by the software update on Sprints site 2 days ago with Sprint TV not closing and locking my phone. If this is a recent problem that all of a sudden got an update, and leaving all the other issues alone like Pict Mail not deleting, and DC speaker being quiet, and locked texts deleting, and settings resetting themselves after a hard reset, and the outer screen staying on even though it is set to turn off, and the goofy resets the phone does on its own, and... I can keep going.. then there really is a major problem with Moto and Sprint.

But I can not get the download to finish. Be it the Swiftel network I am currently on, or something with the phone itself, I would really like to know if the SprintTV problem is the ONLY thing this software fix fixes.

Sprint TV locking up is on the bottom of my list of s**t to fix.

Well I finally got the update to download.

    So far I've noticed that...
-regained lost internal memory (maybe they fixed that memory leak)
-able to delete picture mail without the 'unknown error' message (so far)
-Sprint TV actually does close now
-Fixed the outer screen problem not turning off

I'm currently not in a qChat area so I can't try the DC to see if that is louder or not, and wont be back in Chicago for another 2 weeks...

I am afraid to try 'delete all' to see if it still deletes locked text messages

So far the most annoying things about the update are that it restored that dreadful Sprint Ahead theme and all the lame demo games and reset all my D-pad shortcuts in the Moto theme.

As for selecting "Delete All" in the text messages inbox, it no longer deletes locked messages! In fact, it even tells you at the end of the process that "Locked Messages will not be deleted."

    Yay!

Thank you for being the guinea pig on the texting issue.

In my earlier post I forgot to mention that all my presets were reset in the 'moto' theme, but my phone never reverted back to the sprint ahead theme. My wallpaper (i hate the term screensaver since it is a WALLpaper) was the same, my ringtones were the same, just reset my settings, and put all that crappy software back on my phone.

BUT... I ran SprintTV a few times today, and after the 2nd time of it running, I would try to run it again and would freeze my phone at the splash screen. Had to do a hard reset. Anyone else having Sprint TV issues?

I mostly use it to listen to the radio. The videos are mostly the same, and suck when I am in Sioux Falls on Swiftel's 1x data speed. It can *almost* stream the radio stations fine while in 1x

That is the problem I started having a few days before the firmware upgrade. I was at work in the production studio buring 25 CDs for some imaging demos and I had SprintTV on listning to the dance music channel and when I was done I exited SprintTV and the phone was frozen for 20 minutes before i pulled the battery. It also happened a few times after that. Exiting I havn't noticed any problems, but loading sometimes it freezes up. I also noticed that after the firmware update the progress bar no longer moves when loading SprintTV.. it stalls out before the splash screen.

My guess is we will be seeing another SprintTV upgrade in the coming days/weeks

But besides the SprintTV problem, this firmware update for the v950 seems solid. Overall i am happy and hope to see more enhancements in the future for this phone. I am very happy with the v950 and the fixes so far make it what it should have been in the beginning
