    iDEN MiKE Expansion

Will they ever be expanding the iDEN network? It has more potential even though its a dieing technology, but look at what Nextel is doing with boost.

nope and it really is too bad because that netowrk is awesome.... its more like they are trying to kill it off as there hasnt been a single promotion for MiKE in almost a year and a half and its prices are no where near as competitive as PCS. Hell they didnt have a $0 phone for almost a year until the i877 price drop a few weeks ago.

When I had MiKe their pricing model was still the original style "everything goes" pricing... it wasn't until the last two years or so that they made any changes to that model... I doubt they'll be investing much into it - but if they did, they'd have to rip out a lot of hardware - a lot of the upgrades for iDEN require moving off the iDEN network - what's the point in that.

Think of it this way: the less twiddlers that are using the system, the more available it is to those who actually use it for business... sounds like a great way to evergreen a wireless network...
    Cheeri'o...
    Frankie...

Please Note: I do not work for Bell. I also do not work for any wireless retail outlet.
Do not ask me about promotions or offers from wireless providers.

Its a Shame that Sprint Nextel has exclusive rights to Quallcomm QChat Technology, using iDEN on CDMA towers

Perhaps, but the kodiak PTT/PTM system was far more robust and flexible. Qchat was really just a dinky application that ran on the phone...

At least the kodiak system could do real-time and PTT to Circuit integration.

I completely agree with you. I have been with iDEN for years and honestly, I prefer to use them over anything nowadays. After my PCS contract is done with Telus, I will be looking for a used 8350i or will renew my current contract right now and just add the DATA plan on it.

However, you're right. I have been advertising it every where and telling people PTT is (PER SECOND BILLING) and no one cares because they need to have other parties to have this phone to use this feature and/or to be billed per second.
I keep on telling Telus they got to do Marketing campaign to get people hooked back on to the the MIKE Network. I remember I had lots of friends that used to have it and now no one is interested at all except for businesses. I still use mine to call my boss at work but that's about it!
Looking for Blackberry 8350i for iDEN

Motorola i576: Bluetooth, Rugged, 905*5*65819 (Current)
    Motorola i870: Bluetooth, used

Blackberry 8330: Telus (PCS), love it, unlimited data, 2G network

For business users, they just did an i680 Brute campaign and now there's an i1 contest: http://go.telus.com/pages/2010/smb/m...ivity_Id=11514

However, given that they've taken out the Mike stands in most corporate stores, even getting simple service is difficult - best go to a business to business company.

    Question

Here's a suggestion, I have been on the phone with a few different Marketing REPs regarding campaigning for Mike again.

According to the rep, he indicated the more people to call in, the better since they will be able to use that and start marketing for this service again.

I would urge you guys to try doing that and maybe we could start having the services we want to have and with more users.

To each its own. I have done a lot of research on plans and unfortunately all the companies out there including Telus (PCS) can not beat the plans that MIKE has to offer.

All the plans including business plans does not come with Voice Mail/Caller ID, its an additional fee and with MIKE, its totally free. So there alone, I saved $10 - 15 per month.
