Well there you have it - $400 (or $350) or say "nuts".
Niiiice. Not.

$350 is a lot consider you can get the iphone for $199. But the Pro2 cost only $199 from online authorized retailer. No rebates needed either.

As with the $279 price, not everyone is eligible for the $199 price. You have to be a new customer to get it for $199 and I believe they have different rules for the contract. (correct me if I'm wrong) With the $279 price, only those who are eligible for a full upgrade can get that price. I'll be verifying in about 20min when I get to the store to get mine.Originally Posted by bigtreofan

If next year looks like theres more AWS capable handsets out there then I'll reup for longer than 1 year.
I haven't been under contract in like 3 years but would have reupped if there was something worth reupping for.
I haven't bought a tmo subsidized phone since the voicestream days. Their selection is that poor (in my eyes). But at least prior to 3G, I could pick from a large variety of quadband gsm phones. Now that option isn't there.

Other than being out of contract, is there something else I'm missing to get the better pricing?
just a general note. I don't think Retentions or Business Direct will have any 'deals' or price reductions on this phone as its newly released. Within 60-90 days most likely they will have a price reduction to offer or as their standard pricing. ..So you'll pay for your phone lust..lol..
OK. Here's the deal. Just came from the store (a 2nd time) and talking to CS (a 3rd time). First they told me that the price was $279 for me again. (this is the 3rd confirmation) Then they said that they misquoted the price and that it was actually $370. Then they said that they would honor the price if they billed it to my phone bill and credit back the difference. I said OK. Then they tell me that I need to update my data plan to the $24.99 plan. I tell them that the first two reps said that I didn't need to upgrade my plan and that I could continue to use the same total internet plan that I already have. They say that the phone will not work with the total internet plan. I say B*ll Sh*t because the unlocked Pharos Traveler works with it, so what's the difference with the TP2? It's a WM phone just the same. They insist that it cannot be sold without the new data plan. So I say "the hell with it then" and just end the phone call threatening to go to a competitor. They don't give a sh*t and go through the apologies and other BS.
I'm so pissed off right now. The handling of this TP2 release is a fiasco. I'll just wait a week or so when they get tired of the complaints and see if they fix the pricing or the data plan requirement. If not, I'm dropping back down to the $9.99 data plan and waiting for another provider to pick up the phone and then drop them. The T-Mobile that I once knew is now dead. What a joke.
No sh*t i agree with you all the way thises f*king peoples dont know what they doing... they wouldnt sell it to me without changing my data plan to the $24.99 saying that I cant keep my vpn $19.99 and get the discount on the phone.... and this is all bull crap... I can't f*ing believe it!!!!!!Originally Posted by shawndh

Ugh. I can't believe T-Mo replaced the home screen (i.e. the flip clock) with myFaves. And you can't change it according to Engadget.![]()
I wouldn't buy one until it's cooked ROM friendly at this point.
Edit: Correction. Apparently you can get the HTC TouchFlo home screen back, but have to go through myFaves settings, not TouchFlo's. Whew!![]()
Just got off the phone with some kind of Account or Case manager. He was able to finally Confirm that the $19.99 plan will work with the tp2 and he ordered the phone, honoring the $279 price that I was quoted earlier! My total shipped after many apologies is only $281.83!!!!!! The phone will be here by 8/21.
Went through a lot of BS but I finally got what I wanted. Best wishes to the rest of you trying to do the same, but I feel this Window of opportunity is getting narrower and narrower. They said the price went up to $370 today!
EDIT: This is with a 2 year contract and the price was billed to my phone bill. I opted for a one time charge on the next bill. And no changes to my Total Internet plan.

"As a T-Mobile rep, we have gotten to use this phone and you CAN turn off the myFaves and get the "flip clock". Not sure why they said you couldn't in the review. From what I remember, it was in Settings and than myFaves settings, I believe, but I know it can be turned off."
T-mobile totally f**k this up. They focus so much on the MyTouch 3G and forgot the big segment of WM fans who have patiently been waiting for years for a decent 3G WM phone from them. Shame on you T-Mobile. I have more reasons to jump on the 3Gs wagon now.
Is it my imagination or did the T-Mo Touch Pro 2 lose 32 megs of RAM along the way from the Euro version (256 vs 288)? I thought I saw 256 in the system info screen from one of the video reviews (might have been the ZDNet phone blog).
If so, what is it with T-Mobile and reducing the RAM (i.e. myTouch vs. Magic), they can't be saving that much in production costs.
