    Might be possible...

There have been press releases online saying that you will not be able to get the Pre with the old Fair and Flex SERO plans. They have said you will need "an Everything Plan." So what this leaves open is that you may be able to get someone to upgrade you to an Everything Plus plan and then be under the "Everything Plan" umbrella. The easiest way I see is to just log into the 'SERO' page the day the Pre comes out and see if that phone is avail. Or you can call like I probably will, since I'm out of contract, and see what you can get done.

Another note: on people complaining about Sprint trying to get people out of the SERO plans by blocking them out, my opinion is you have no room to complain that much. Sure it sucks for me too that I may not be able to get the Pre without giving it up, but you do realize that you rape sprint every month you have that plan? No other plan on any other carrier comes close to that price. So despite agreeing it sucks, your complaints that Sprint is a horrible company ect. are ridiculous. SERO blew up on the online community and Sprint is doing everything they can to actually make a couple dollars off you, instead of basically none. Crazy concept huh? ;P

I actually was going to make a similar point when I made the OP. I've had SERO for quite some time and the money both my wife and I saved is huge -and we have more features than before.

Even at $70+/mth for the the least expensive plan for the Pre, it's still a good value.

What's the easiest way to get a Pre when it launches? Assuming there isn't a presale (then, all bets are off), what's the best way to guarantee you'll get the phone on launch day? Online/phone orders or a retail store?

I'm not planning on even trying for a presale unless something offical comes out about SERO in relation to the Pre.

No reason to start stirring the pot up until things have settled a little.

Sprint everything data plan is still cheaper than the other 3 carriers smart phone plans. I'm on the original sero and will be upgrading plan if necessary for the Pre.

    Unlimited M2M and weekend

Please. SERO users are not "raping sprint". If they were, then Sprint would not give SERO users a new 2 year contract, thus locking in the user at the same price for more time.

It was Sprint's idea to offer the SERO plan in the first place, why they did this is up to speculation. Nobody forced Sprint to offer this plan, it was not mandated by anybody, nor was Sprint's system hacked to "create" this plan. People took advantage of a golden opportunity.

Yes, it is a "crazy concept" for a company to get people to sign up for a plan when they are promissed one thing, but then told another. Especially when said company has a bad reputation, where people would not normally lock in 2 years with. SERO users were promised "unlimited POWER VISION ", the pre requires "unlimited POWER VISION". What is the problem? SERO gives you the same network that the PRE runs on with the same type of DATA that SERO includes. Requiring a plan upgrade just to make more money is unethical and is just bad business practice on Sprint's behalf.

What if we were talking about a non-SERO plan with a grandfathered unlimited POWER VISION add-on? I am sure that the attitude would quickly change around here.

But off course, Sprint wants more money. What a surprise. Unfortunality, Sprint is not AT&T. This is expected with AT&T and it's iPhone, not the Pre.

Sprint should worry about adding more customers along with getting Pre's out the door on behalf of Palm. What a crazy concept, huh?

Yeah, they only profit on all $30 of it...

Profit: Accounting profit is the difference between price and the costs of bringing to market whatever it is that is accounted as an enterprise (whether by harvest, extraction, manufacture, or purchase) in terms of the component costs of delivered goods and/or services and any operating or other expenses.

Yes, because it's completely free for Sprint to provide service to you. Man I wish my company had a 100% profit margin! I'd be getting bonuses left and right!

How much do you think it costs Sprint to provide service to one individual? How much more does it really cost them if you use 500 minutes a month as opposed to 1500? You're telling me these companies don't make a killing off of each and every customer?

Of course they do, but you're treating their expenses as being somewhat fixed. It costs quite a bit of money just for R&D, which it easily takes years for any true profit to accrue. And in telecommunications in general (and wireless in particular), that investment is substantial.
Now times that over and over, add loss of revenue (bleeding customers) and you can quickly see why Sprint would choose to stop SERO anyway they can.

Again, even their proposed plans for the Pre are reasonable enough. If you have enough disposable income to afford any mid to high end smartphone, you can afford a $70 plan.

PS: I would even go as far as saying that Sprint makes it much easier than any of the other carriers (I had VZW since their PrimeCo times and Cingular/AT&T through work) to get extras added for free on your account and also corporate discounts (at least 20% from the monthly bill).

Trust me if I didn't have this $30 Sero plan I wouldn't be with Sprint. I'm sure most people in the same boat would agree. No way would I pay $70 for the exact same thing I am getting now for $30 at least not on Sprint.

you couldnt use an instinct on a SERO plan, chances are the Palm Pre could be the same, but no one knows until the Pre comes out.

Point me to a single US carrier that gives you the same features for the same or cheaper price.

Hint: don't bother looking up, VZW, AT&T, TMobile are all more expensive with LESS features.

Does anyone know if that'll still work? Like they won't hastle me when I switch the ESN.
