Palm Pre and Sprint SERO Plans

While checking out Sprint's widget-like ad page for the Pre , I caught a glimpse of the following tweet:

Ugg the Palm Pre won't work with my $30 Sprint SERO plan, instead they will want me to upgrade to the $60 plan - Blackberry 8330 here I come

Now, I'm not sure if there's a $60 SERO plan, but if there is and it gives me at least 600 mins/unlimited date, I'm fine and you can disregard this thread.

However, I rarely (read: never) rely on Tweeter for news, but this actually made me wonder -would Sprint force you to a Palm Pre-only plan? I certainly hope not, as even without SERO, Sprint's plans are quite competitive, and forcing you to a plan created just for a single phone it's quite sh*tty.

But hey, it's business. Still, anyone care to comment/speculate?

Its pretty much confirmed, as long as the plan has unlimited data (the kinda that sprint offers now which includes sprint tv, navigation etc.) it will work on the pre.

The $60 SERO plan is 500 anytime and unlimited everything else.

Nights and weekends start at 7 though.

Hey Doug, mind sharing where did you see this bit about any unlimited data plan (incl. SEROs) working with the Pre?

Why can't you just buy a Pre outright and have them add it to your account? Isn't that possible?

IT won't work for the original SERO.

Only the new"SERO" plan.

If you watch the webcast sprint and Palm had they talked about Unlimited Data plans being required for the Pre.

My SERO plan, established about a year ago, does have unlimited data ($50/500min/7pm/data & txt) -was there ever a SERO plan that didn't include unlimited data?

Let me rewatch those webcasts (the one covering gaming was a bit of a letdown, BTW), but I remember they mentioned something about Pre-specific plans, and those would include unlimited data.

I did too...the $30 one.

But I believe their plan will need to have the FULL unlimited data...including navigation and Sprint Premium TV.

Which that SERO that you have does not include. Bu the new SERO (forgot the real name) include it...as well as the normal plans on Sprint's website.

Crap, are you saying I won't be able to carry over my existing SERO? Since they no longer offer SERO, I (and others) will be SOL.

How can I check if I really don't have nav and Premium TV? I have access to Sprint TV, but some channels are paid subs only.

I mean nothing is written in stone yet but I believeits going to be similar to the instinct requirments which didn't work with the old sero only the new one.

;^) Heh. Cricket gives 43,600 minutes and unlimited data for $50.00 per month. I'm happy with my Trēo 755p, and will likely upgrade to the Prē sometime, once I find full time work again.

There seems to be some confusion here, the new SERO is called the Everything Plus Referral Program. There are individual plans and family plans available. There is still no official word as of now from Sprint stating whether or not EPRP will be available with the Palm Pre, but since the EPRP was available for the Instinct, I would suspect that it will be with the Palm Pre. Sprint is gonna fail the with Pre I can see it now. Too bad any other carrier would have been so much better.

I have to agree w/ carioca. I had Sprint with SERO for a while and had no problems, except none of my frequently called numbers had Sprint, so I went hundreds of minutes over for a few months, so I left. I have an iPhone now, and it's pretty hard to say "I think VZW would have done better" or T-Mobile, or Sprint, etc. Every carrier would provide a different way to get something done, and I actually think that Sprint and it's fairly liberal ToS and pretty great customer service as of late would be a great place to try to create the next iPhone killer.

I'm just a little tired of random and thoughtless carrier bashing. Each national US carrier provides its own benefits.

As a sero plan owner (5) i am assuming they are going to do what they did with the Instinct you will have to change plans to get this phone.

Regarding buying it off ebay etc and adding it, just like the instinct no way.

The phone is way hot and they will have no worries selling it out getting people to change plans.
