I have an argument with nokia and now i need to get my old firmware back to the phone if anybody has this file please send it to me or tell me how to get it.
Nokia is making excuse and don't want to repair my phone blaming me that the firmware update is causing problems. They know that is not true but it is an easy way out from the warranty.
Please Help.
Thank you
Alex

Are you talking to Rogers or Nokia??? The FW would void your Rogers warranty but your Nokia one should be ok.
If you bought it at a BestBuy, Future Shop, The Source or someplace like those stores, you can always try to do an exchange.
I can flash the phone back to the old firmware it is possible. Not with the regular nokia update that you can download from nokia web site but there is other programs that could do it. I have problems with nokia not with rogers. Rogers are just fine. But i need this file and i am having hard time finding it.
Can you describe your argument with Nokia? I don't see how going back to Rogers firmware will help anything. If it is a firmware issue then just install the latest NAM firmware.Originally Posted by amihov
And I have never heard of anyone being able to downgrade firmware back to Rogers v11. I don't think it is currently possible.
Well nokia is refusing my warranty because i have a generic firmware. If i put the old one back and send the phone for repair again then it will meet their requirement and they may fixed it.
Is it a firmware or hardware issue you're having? You could always call Nokia USA and get transfered to Canada or they can tell you a direct service centre.
Since you had to change the product code to upgrade the firmware, they do have a point that you messed with the phone.
Does the problem remain when you do a full reset?
The word 'Pentaband' means '5 Bands', from the Greek word 'pente' meaning '5'. For a phone to be pentaband it has to support 5 bands. If the phone has AWS support, it doesn't automatically mean that it is pentaband. The reason Wind and Mobilicity users like pentaband phones is because the reverse is true. We're not the only ones who like pentaband phones though, so please stop referring to phones that work on Wind and Mobilicity as pentaband. It causes unnecessary cofusion.
I know that they have a point . But the reason why i did all of this is because i had the problem before and i was told by nokia rep that when i update the phone the problems will disapear. And that was what nokia was claiming with the new firmware. I change the product code because that was the only way to get the firmware update. The problems is hardware you can reset the phone that dosen't fix it. Nokia knows about it but now they are using this firmware update that i did against me .
I believe this is the correct answer, given that NSU won't allow you to downgrade and that there is no way to obtain Rogers-branded firmware.Originally Posted by Skarbro
There is apparently a way to do a downgrade. I saw it mentioned somewhere in the S60 boards.
If it is a hardware issue (which you haven't specified yet?) then they can't void your warranty because you changed the firmware unless they can prove that the firmware upgrade was the cause of the hardware issue. Tell them to refer to the Magnusson-Moss Warranty Act.Originally Posted by amihov
