Hello,
I saw a phone i wanna buy on ebay but it doesn't say if it's locked or unlocked it just say it's an "unwanted upgrade from T- mobile". They seller isn't replying back and it's ending soon. So if i buy it will i be able to use any simcard in it? Is it easy to unlock if it's locked? How much will it cost to unlock if it's locked?

6600 slide nokia.
If i can't unlock it in my country. Can i unlock it online or something?
I am not sure. Maybe it can unlock it online.![]()
I'm new here, but my understanding is they are obligated to unlock the phone in this situation.Originally Posted by blitz911

Verry good chance that phone is locked. It it were not, they would have advertized so. However, as already mentioned, if you are a tmobile customer in good standing for more than 90 days, they will unlock it for you upon request. If not, you can try via 3rd party or ebay for a small fee.
Most likely from T-Mobile in Europe since T-Mobile US doesn't carry that model. It's Nokia BB5 so you can only get it unlocked code from T-Mobile.Originally Posted by esroh
If the phone does not specifically state that it is unlocked, you should assume it is locked. However, I don't think I would want to buy from a seller who does not respond to questions prior to bidding.Originally Posted by esroh
No, they are not obligated to unlock a phone unless you are a current customer and meet the criteria for unlocking. (As stated by blitz, 90 days or more as a customer plus other criteria spelled out in Wiki.)Originally Posted by XXXXXX000000
There are numerous unlocking services. Many here recommend horizon wireless.Originally Posted by esroh
You might also ask the seller to unlock it before you buy it -- if he has been with TMO long enough to get an upgrade, he should be able to get the unlock code for it. Of course, he isn't responding to you so again, I would probably not buy from him.
And do you maybe mean 3600 slide? I had a 6600 years ago. (I think it's actually still in a drawer somewhere.) You can actually buy the 3600 directly from Nokia USA for $199. I don't see it listed in current TMO offerings and honestly don't know if they've offered it recently. (Edit: I see someone else has stated that TMO USA has not offered this phone.)
Personal Phone: iPhone 4 on AT&T
Work Phone: Blackberry Tour (9630) on Verizon
I think he is talking about this phone.Originally Posted by carrolldf
No they're not. The only time they will unlock it for someone who is not a T-Mobile customer is if the phone was purchased for full price from a T-Mobile outlet and the customer will need to fax in the receipt for proof of that. Because this was an upgrade phone, the phone was not sold at full price and eBay is not a T-Mobile outlet.Originally Posted by XXXXXX000000
Gotcha. I made the mistake of looking only at the Nokia USA site. I still have the Europe site book-marked from when I used to prefer Nokias and found it there. Surprising that they are re-using the model numbers. I think it was 2004-2005 when I had the Nokia 6600 (a symbian phone).Originally Posted by bachviet
An uncooperative seller on eBay or Craigslist is to be avoided no matter how cool you might think what they have to offer is. It's a bad sign and the sign that you could be in for problems since they seem to be unresponsive.Originally Posted by esroh
