Eh, BGR has a habit of over editorializing anymore.
Why would it have to be a one or the other thing? USA Today isn't the only one talking about it either (in fact I don't even think they're were the first).
I see no reason that anyone would get an iPhone rumor confused with a WM rumor.
On the other hand it makes perfect sense that Verizon would be talking to both, even at the same time. Heck, why wouldn't they be? Really if you get down to it wouldn't you think that one would expect them to be in some sort of talks with the other?
I've been looking forward to the "pink" phone ever sense the rumors started. If nothing else I want to see where they're going with it.
This is exactly what i think is going on. The proof? Verizon CEO said 'Historically they don't rely on one device' when he was asked about the Apple talks.
I think both are coming. Verizon's trying to kill all other phones and carriers.

Agreed. The more options we have, the better. I don't know about everyone else, but I really hate looking around and seeing 10 other people with my phone.

At this stage of the game AT&T needs Apple far more than Apple needs AT&T.That being said, I could see Apple signing one more 1 year extention with AT&T(for the right price ).That would give Verizon more time to get LTE built out and give Apple more time to R&D an LTE-based iPhone.

Agreed, AT&T has signed so many more customers just based on the iPhone. Its ridiculous.

More options is great. What I am tired of is that the "new" phones from Verizon are generally about a year old and mostly available from other carriers that much earlier.
Yeah I'm getting really fed up with the phone selection Verizon has. It seems they have gone touchscreen crazy but forgetting that just because a phone has a touchscreen does not mean it's an iPhone killer. What makes the iPhone the iPhone is the stunning software and App Store. Verizon still puts their restrictive GUI on all their standard phones, and the ones that don't run Windows Mobile, which, from what I hear, can be WORSE than Verizon's own GUI. My contract is up in December and I'm seriously considering just getting an older phone, brand new, and keeping the saved money.
We'll all found out if this is true in 4 days!!!!!!!!!!!
I've also been following that post on crackberry, as well as constantly checking www.9to5mac.com , www.macrumors.com and www.theiphoneblog.com . I am counting down the days, hours, minutes and seconds until 1PM here on Monday! (not really but you get the picture )
My fingers are as crossed as they can be for some sort of deal and phone for Verizon, but even if there isn't, I'm still excited to see the new phone and its new features.
I also just realized how DEAD this thread is... Isn't anyone else hoping for a Verizon iPhone??!
My source had confirmed there was going to be an iPhone for Verizon, but he said Verizon was more shifting towards Project Pink with Microsoft. However he said he could never tell me release date or info because this was more *top secret* than the storm information
