It doesn't make sense at all to have paying customers being beta testers.
That will be vzw's mistake too, underestimating or disregarding the competition. GSM and CDMA have been going at it for a while with the latter winning the majority of the time.
samab, I guess WiMax exist in the same realm as Thor and Green Lantern because they are offering unlimited usage to them and not us.
locust, the real world can exist with more than one platform that the consumer can which works best for them. I wouldn't want + with att or LTE just because of the meter watching necessary and T Mobile has plenty of catching up to do before they can compete. AT&T's + is supposed to do 21mbps but it doesn't get close to that, T Mobile's is 7 but doing maybe 3 while the 4TH generation tech (LTE and WiMax) in real world will be 4 - 12 on a regular.
On a side note, Cumming is almost 50 miles away from ATL and you are complaing that WiMax is bad. Actually go to ATL and then report back how the Overdrive or Evo perform because the map only says Atlanta. You are pushing it outside of 20 miles and think it will be clear and consistent, thought you were somewhat knowledgeable the way you spout off about GSM.
I am knowledgable, my house right off Old Alpharetta Road in a brand new community has FULL WiMax Signal, in fact I can see a WiMax tower from my House when I am there.
You are just switching from one giant company with anti-trust issues to another giant company with anti-trust issues.
It is a totally separate issue of whether LTE was still in the paper spec stage at that point.
Look at the part you keep ignoring, tech that was here when they made the decision and not an idea with them getting from under Q was an added benefit. When all the markets go live that will be beta too but with caps and high prices, oh great.

All those recent test and not one from an Overdrive or Evo that is supposedly carried around with all the others because what you post about WiMax is not the norm.
well vz wants people to think they are getting it whether they actually get it or not. Thats basically comes down to smart marketing. If people are thinking about switching to att to get the iphone, it may sway them to stay with verizon if they think a vz iphone is just around the corner.

I can't believe how many people are holding out hope for a VZW iPhone when there's absolutely no indication that it would happen in the foreseeable future.
I am a little confused. My Verizon phone was able to roam on GSM because they used TDMA. Tell it was shutdown. The phone recognizes it as Analog. If PCS has TDMA, It could be technically be used on GSM.

I agree with ya, I travel a lot, and people that I go with have At&T and they're always having to use my phone when we aren't on the main drag, lol.
I read the story about completed trials on BGR, engadetmobile and phonearena, there is a post somewhere around here with links and to the 5 markets story. Both of those stories are a few months at the least.

I want to switch to verizon but I'm waiting for iPhone on verizon. I think the biggest indication that iPhone is coming soon is AT&T allowing upgrades early. In fact they allowed anyone due before the end of the year. My bet is that there will be something told in the last quarter. But that is just a guess. Hate that apple keeps everything so quite. I know nothing just want to leave AT&T so I'm hoping.

You'd be better off switching now and then get the iPhone when it comes to VZW in 2012. AT&T allowed early upgrades last year and Verizon didn't get the iPhone this year.
Verizon has within the past month or so said the iPhone is not coming in the "immediate future." You can take this as you please (and I'm sure others in here think the "immediate future" is already over) but all signs point to a 2012+ iPhone for the rational folk...
How is the comment above mine "playing nicely" but mine is not? If anything my comment is probably more accurate.
P.S. - If you look over my comments in this thread, you will see that most of them are valid reasons that Verizon will not be getting an iPhone until at least 2012. I'm sorry if you guys can't handle the truth but I am doing nothing wrong. This forum is a discussion board, not a cheerleading board. If you only want to see positive comments on Verizon, I'd suggest you guys PM each other so that I cannot see your comments.
