Yes and now it all makes sense as to why there's no contract yet. Verizon will 'earn it' when they have simultaneous voice + data(SVDO) and LTE at the same time.

The article quoted earlier was talking about VoRA, which is not related to SVDO at all. In fact, SVDO is purely a MS feature, there's nothing for VZW to work on, people could use it today if any mobiles supported it.
I am a little confused. My Verizon phone was able to roam on GSM because they used TDMA. Tell it was shutdown. The phone recognizes it as Analog. If PCS has TDMA, It could be technically be used on GSM.

Not at all. SVDO, VoRA, and EV-DV are all different things. In a nutshell:
SVDO means voice over a conventional 1x carrier and data over an EV-DO carrier. This requires no changes on the network side, but requires mobiles to have two independent tuners and RF paths, which would make them clumsy and expensive. That's why it hasn't been done yet.
VoRA is similar to VoIP, you simply build a data connection over a 1xEV-DO channel and use it to stream the voice packets. Similar to VZW's P2T solution. This also implies that voice will be carried on a packet network, with all the challenges that entails.
EV-DV would have been an integrated voice/data connection over the same channel with a circuit-switched connection for voice and a packet-switched connection for the data. This is essentially how UMTS/HSPA works, but the EV-DV version was shelved (due to lack of interest from the carriers) many years ago.
Here's a report that the first Verizon Iphone will NOT be LTE. It goes against what i have been hearing. I wouldn't be surprised if Apple decided its too risky to go LTE at launch.
I could see Apple using this as a marketing strategy. Release the iPhone on Verizon in the near future without LTE capabilities built-in, then next year release a revamped iPhone WITH LTE. This way it will get more people who already bought the phone the first go round to buy it again.
XFF has been saying that the Iphone won't be coming till what, 2012? You still saying that?
Have you seen him say anything otherwise?
I can't wait for January/February to come and go w/o a Verizon iPhone again. Then March will bring the normal June rumors. June will come and go without a Verizon iPhone. Rumors will start around August/September/October 2011 about a Verizon iPhone. You might get an actual announcement from Apple sometime in late 2011/early 2012.

So will you issue a public apology on this forum to the Wall Street Journal, the New York Times, and all the other media outlets reporting it's a done deal, if the iPhone is announced the first quarter of 2011?

Yes.
If I am right (no Verizon iPhone until 2012), I think we should keep this as a sticky in the Verizon forum for as long as HoFo exists. It will serve as a reminder that even as much as you wish something will happen, it won't necessarily come true.
That and the fact that the internet isn't always right...

That's fair, now just convince HoFo to keep this thread as a sticky.

Oh there will definitely be a thread created titled "Official Verizon iPhone Naysayer Crow Eating Thread (KEEP ALL DISCUSSION HERE).
Hi, my name is Joey and Im addicted to cell phones...
I find it highly unlikely that both the WSJ and NYT would get this wrong. They get THIS wrong and their credibility slips tremendously.
My question is, what sources can anyone in this thread state, that can confirm the NON-existence of an iPhone for Verizon in the 1st calendar quarter of 2011? (And your gut/hunches/tea leaves don't count.)
