The human mind has a near infinite capacity for rationalization...

"Fundamentally, there are only two ways of coordinating the economic activities of millions. One is central direction involving the use of coercion - the technique of the army and of the modern totalitarian state. The other is voluntary cooperation of individuals - the technique of the marketplace."

Damn, dude. A counterexample would've done just fine...
I honestly don't see how copy/paste is a critical feature on a cellphone... and I offered up an alternative feature that provides a ton of useful benefits, copy/paste is probably the least of which.
But maybe I'm not thinking about the iPhone in the same context you are. Maybe there are scenarios you could pull right off the top of your head that I just haven't thought of. If you offer me one, I'll gladly cede that point. I'm not trying to be right here, I'm just putting info on the table.

You misunderstand my point; perhaps I misunderstood yours, too. If the smart phone has any kind of document application, copy/paste would obviously be useful. Having to connect to a computer to get copy/paste to work... well, why not just use the computer for your document in the first place? What I find amazing is how people will rationalize or excuse the limitations of their favorite device while trashing other devices because of their limitations. This disease seems particularly rampant in the Apply fanboy nation. Have you noticed that whenever software on a Mac fails it is someone else's fault? (e.g. Safari doesn't work with some web site... must be the site author's fault; or Microsoft's fault, or...) But, conversely, whenever Microsoft software fails, it is evidence of the ineptitude of Redmond? Apply Fanboy Nation brain disease.

Ahh, read you loud and clear.
Yeah, iPhones have only recently become suitable for business use, with the addition of exchange support, etc., but they're still more of a portable media device than a business one. There's other stuff out there designed with the heavy business user in mind, and they do it better than the iPhone does.
A Voyager owner myself, I'm clearly not using my phone for business purposes beyond the occasional text message or picture message (which iPhones still can't do, heh). What I do wish my phone could do is sync with my music library, contacts list and calendar, etc., log onto ING direct, or use the full-featured version of google docs.
So, upgrading to an iPhone makes a lot of sense for a user like myself. The fact that I already own a macbook makes the decision that much easier, since their compatibility with each other is extensively inbuilt.
And a side note, I totally hear ya' on the fanboyism issues. I promise I'm not trying to be one of them
Apple doesn't want to bother with CDMA (too small a market), so you can switch now to ATT, get the phone you want, and come back to Verizon when LTE is out and working.

Basically, it's the next mobile communication standard. It's the natural upgrade for WCDMA networks while UMB is the natural upgrade for EVDO networks, but Verizon actually chose to be with the 3GPP popular global standards. Obviously, none of it's for the customer, but purely for increased roaming and manufacturer revenue.

And actually, Apple has had job posting for CDMA and EVDO technologies on their website last year. And also like stated, they went to VZW first.
Rumors are that Apple isn't happy with the iphone because of the 3G.
