on my newly acquired second hand 9020c im getting a blue square with a G in it, in the indicator area next to the icon showing the signal strength. ive looked through the manual but its not in there, does anyone know what that indicates?
by the way its my first japanese phone and im probably impressed and unimpressed in equal measure so far.

On my WX-t923 the signal tower (not the bars, but beside them) turned red for a minute, I thought it was weird anyone know what it is?

its happened, on my sh9010c, but it goes away. really fast, but sh9010c signal sucks compared to my 903sh,

ahhh, that makes sense especially because I have to put my phone by a window to get signalIt's always low but this is the first time it happnd.
The one thing I find odd is the T923 gets signal wayyy better than any other tri-band phone ive had, even the sh1810c. I'm glad tho, so I don't have to constantly switch my old cut up sim card lol

Yeah the manuals are rubbish.
The G in the small blue box just means data is available for connection (it corresponds to the 'Packet Service: Available' point in the Network Information screen shown above. If it said Unavailable, then that small G wouldn't appear).
If that G isn't shown, it means you won't be able to connect to the internet if you try; it will just fail. If it's there, you'll be able to connect if your settings are correct. When it changes to the globe with the G in it, it means you've connected successfully.
