    Samsung PC Studio 3

    hi there,

I installed it and I see my phone metroPCS Samsung sch-r210 in device manager (under COM, and under USB) but when I click “file-connection-usb-connect” it doesn’t connect.

My thoughts are that the 'samsung pc studio 3.1.3 for win xp' doesn't work with all phones, what has been everyone elses experience with pc studio for the r210?

    regards,
    db7

PC Studio 3 won't work with the SCH-U900 (Flipshot) in either Windows XP or Vista using either USB or Bluetooth connection.

Personally, I don't think it'll connect to anything! I've asked Samsung multiple times and never received an answer.

The solution for me is very simple, I'll never get another Samsung phone. Not because of PC Studio 3 but because there seems to be no support from Samsung...
    It's me again...

Samsung doesn't provide software support for any of their CDMA (non-GSM) phones they make as the firmware of the phones are either Provider branded, locked and or crippled to where PC Studio or any of their previous phone sync software won't work or connect.

Most of the CDMA Samsungs have worked with BitPIM and other third-party software that works with most of those CDMA providers other phones by other manufacturers.

Just about all Verizon bluetooth capable phones only work with bluetooth headsets and do not have the other bluetooth profiles to connect to computers or other bluetooth devices to transfer/receive data.

Not so, the version of PC Studio 3 I have obtained from Samsung's website is specifically for the SCH-U900 which is a Verizon exclusive phone.

Most of the CDMA Samsungs have worked with BitPIM and other third-party software that works with most of those CDMA providers other phones by other manufacturers.
Unfortunately the SCH-U900 isn't one to those.

Just about all Verizon bluetooth capable phones only work with bluetooth headsets and do not have the other bluetooth profiles to connect to computers or other bluetooth devices to transfer/receive data.
Not so with any of the Verizon Samsungs I've owned, I have no problem transferring pictures, music and other files to/from my phone with Bluetooth also the help files for PC Studio 3 say that the SCH-U900 will connect with Bluetooth or USB cable in XP and *only* with Bluetooth in Vista.

You seem to have come across some incorrect information, hope this helps.

Most of my comments were towards the OP's problem and the one reference to bluetooth regarding Verizon crippling their bluetooth is still pretty much what most people have had problems in the past.

Keep in mind what may work with your Verizon Samsung may not entirely pertain to other provider branded Samsungs especially the CDMA based ones. In regards to the SCH-u900, it does seem to be a higher end model and what may have made it more user friendly than previous models. The fact that Samsung does support it with its own PC Studio 3 does surprise me though.

In regards to the OP's MetroPCS SCH-r210, there is no PC Studio 3 support for it or any other Samsung software to manage it. It being more of a basic phone doesn't help either. There is no mention of USB connectivity for the SCH-r210 or any OEM USB cables sold to use either on their (Samsung.com) website.

Since it doesn't work for me in either XP or Vista or Windows7 using Bluetooth or USB cable I have to question just how much support actually exists if any.

I'd feel better if Samsung would respond to my multiple requests for help but that might be asking too much.....

I was able to obtain a picture of their tech support people at work:

It's easy to check with any phone, go to http://www.samsung.com/us/ and select the carrier from the dropdown menu on the left under the "Consumer" tab. Then select your phone, chose the "Support and Downloads" tab and then the "Software" tab.

If PC Studio 3 is listed, give it a try. It may work but if it's not listed you know it won't.

    Angry

Samsung PC Studio 3 works for my A837, but it sucks beyond belief.

I'm trying to set up a process wherein my computer will automatically sync my Google calendar and addressbook with my A837.

I can't find information about command line options for PC Studio. In fact, finding any useful information about that software seems almost impossible.
