    um...

I opened up my wifi connection first and then tried to download the QUICKGPS update but it would open up the cellular connection. I rejected the cellular connection a couple of times and then it went straight to the wifi connection.

See if your wifi connection works for your emails after you reject your cellular connection a few times.

Hmm sounds like you will have to try a hard reset. I never have issue with wlan dl email. I can even do it with no sim card.

might try and do a hard reset but i don't think that will make a difference. When i back up my device with sprite...everything will be thte same when i restore it right?

It should restore most, I dont use sprite though because most of the time it will just cause more trouble than it help. All your installed programs will be mess up. I usually only restore my contacts and messages. If hard reset doesnt work, I suggest flashing a new rom
