When the Modem Link is enabled on this phone, Windows XP needs a driver. XP sees it as a "USB Serial Modem" and can't find the drivers. Where can I get the driver?
I found out that Pantech isn't going to release a "USB Serial Modem" driver for their phone because it would allow AT&T customers, for instance, to tether their laptops to the phone and use it as a modem using one of the cheaper data packages such as the old "Media Net" package. Apparently, this was a loophole that the cell phone companies didn't like.
However, there is a work-around. Checkout "June Fabric's" PDANet. (I used the one for Windows Mobile). It worked perfect! I got about 2MBbps download and 335Kbps upload speeds. It magically uses the ActiveSync connection (with the Modem Link option on the phone set to Inactive). It was well worth $34.
