    @Ardy
    I'll try to remember to use the earpiece next time I get/make a call

    @wirelessgal
    I don't know what NAM is? How do you find that out?
    If this is any help, I bought my phone from here

    Thanks Pino!

    Number Assignment Module (NAM) - The NAM is the electronic memory in the cellular phone that stores the telephone number and an electronic serial number. Phones with dual- or multi-NAM features offer users the option of registering the phone with a local number in more than one market.

    I think what she meant was that do you have the w995 or w995a ("a" for America) meaning the the frequencies used by the phone include all of the one's we use here in North America (U.S., and Canada, don't know about Mexico).

    Oh, BTW I meant the earpiece volume on the actual unit itself not the headset earpiece!

    Thanks again

    I have the w995 not the w995a
    The 3g frequencies of this phone doesn't support the 3g frequencies of T-Mobile which is 1700/2100. So 3g is no use for me.

    Ah okay, the earpiece volume is good, I set the volume to the 6th circle, it is already quite loud at that setting.

    Side note about the price drop at J&R. I emailed customer service noting I just purchased the phone last week and saw the price drop of $50 and asked if they could do anything about it. They are going to credit me the difference of what I paid to the current $479 price! Great work, J&R! You've made me a happy camper. So, if anyone else here bought a w995a from there in the last prior to their price drop yesterday, give them a call or email customer service and they will help you out!

    I'm in Canada as well but I'm looking at J&R or Dell right now and have it shipped to a Washington State address. If you find it in Canada, post it here!

    I will post here if I find a retailer in Canada that has the w995a's in stock.

    Just ordered the phone on Amazon, it will ship on the 14th
    I'm still concern about the earpiece volume, but what the hell!

    Now, does anyone know how the A-GPS can be activated on the phone? I mean since it's not a stand alone gps it must be cell tower triangulated (with the tower gps) to give accurate readings. So, at&t will have a monthly charge, or is it a third party company?

    So many questions!

    That's always been one of my biggest concerns so you are not alone. SE typically do not have the loudest earpiece volume. But there are some models that are louder than others.

    I like to hear from others who have bought this phone as well.
    I have no issues with call volume and the setting is not even at it's loudest. I've used the phone quite a bit since I've got it and the call quality has been great for me. I also use a BT headset (Aliph Jawbone) and the sound quality is fine on that as well.

    A-GPS means assisted GPS i.e. a "standalone" GPS, which can make use of mobile network information (if enabled) to lock in faster. If such information is not available, then it works as a regular GPS only using the satelites.

    True, only "some" A-GPS can also be used as a standalone GPS's not all. In the case of this phone w995a, I don't think it can be used as a standalone GPS.

    However my question maybe wasn't very clear , what I meant to ask was, is there a monthly charge from the carrier network in my case at&t to use the A-GPS on this phone.

    Nope. There is no charge from AT&T. I use it on my W760 and X1 on ATT with no extra charges.

    Great, and that gives you turn by turn navigations? Then the "TELENAV" $9.99 a month (unlimited use) becomes useless!
