ALRIGHT! So I got it to work, but I had to explore some methods on my own.
I hope this will aid people still having trouble, and maybe clarify other options/tasks you need to do in order to succeed.
I decided to take the exact coding from the .txt and .dd examples you uploaded onto Rapidshare and paste it into a new file with a new number. Like you said, I changed the CONF and COSH numbers to the corresponding number of the track. I also changed the number in the PATH address and I changed the name to my track's name. What ALSO needed to be done for me was I had to change the title in the DURL. Here's my example:
your example's DURL was:
DURL: http://koodo.contentportal.verisign....t/dl/truetone/ImOnABoatFeatT.odd?dsc=odd&ctx=7411289322
and I changed mine to:
DURL: http://koodo.contentportal.verisign....t/dl/truetone/BtM.odd?dsc=odd&ctx=7411289322
Other than that, EVERYTHING in the .txt is exact to your purchased version.
Next comes the .dd file. Again, I copy/pasted exact. I went through and changed the title in the <objectURI> section the same as I did in the DURL in the .txt file. I then went on to change the <NAME>, then save... drag... reboot... play... smile. It was a great sense of satisfaction.
Thanks for leading me there!
It will take your mp3 or mid, convert it to .gc and also automatically create the index files so you just need to drop the files in the phone using Bitpim.
Just wanted to give an update that I haven't found the ".txt" file of this yet. I keep going (and regoing) over different parts of the phone to find this file. I've checked the files I found that are numbered, but to no avail.
Here's what I have found out:
1. Files are listed under '/mmc1/AMSDL/CONTENT/Ringers
2. Each ringer has it's own folder, which has the same name as the file.
3. So far I have found the '.gc' file and the '.gcd' (this is the same as the .dd file in this tutorial)
4. The ringer was in '.m4a' format at 41000 khz, mono and at 48 kbps (remember since it's mono, convert at 96 kbps cause it gets cut in half)
5. I successfully converted (w/iTunes) and replaced my downloaded ringtone with another one using the above specs and replacing the downloaded with my created (same name).
I've also tried adding screen savers through bitpim, but I believe those also require a '.txt' file for it to show up on the phone.
My conquest continues. Here are the files I found, both ringer and screen saver (it's Adriana Lima).
The Files you uploaded seem fine, however you are missing the Index File which tells your phone where the File is located, and without it, it wont work. It IS in your phone somewhere. The solution might be to buy one legitimately, and use that Index File as a template.
@ ehimawan :
If you are with Sprint, then your device is probably the Rant, not the Slyde. Therefore it is a bit different. You probably cannot simply create those folders for it to work. You must find where they are located and work from there. Sprint, Telus and Koodo are all slightly different and would require slight modifications. You too, should probably buy one Ringtone from Sprint, and go from there.
Yea the only problem I have with locating the index file is I just can't find it. I already bought a ringer so I have something to work of off. Do you know how the index file was found with the Slyde? I've searched through the directory many times to no avail.
There are a couple folders that i have no access to, due to them being blocked.
I also bought the ringer from Sprint and have similar file structure as yours. I could not find that .txt file (index file). It seems that Sprint has updated their file system structure and hides or protects this file.
i installed a driver .. but im not sure if its the good one because i ts very hard to find a driver for this phone xD..
