@ mini_telus : Cool, I'm glad it finally worked for you.

@ Ithillien : What exactly is the problem you're having? How far in the Tutorial have you been able to get?

Hi there, hopefully you can shed some light on where im going wrong. First the contents of my existing 1.txt files look like this

Kind of different from what you have listed..

Next the files that are listed in mmc1/jas/content/ are .jar and .jad, not .gc and .dd files.

Also every time I upload the files into the directories ( I tried to start at 4.txt with what you have listed as an example) the phone deletes the files when i reboot it. I even tried to replace the 1.txt file with your example and it deleted it next reboot and also deleted 1.jar and 1.jad too.

btw this phone is brand new, my girlfriend picked it up from telus 2 days ago. Possibility of recent changes? Under version the phone is a S:ES.M540 CB17

    Kinda stumped from here.

What are you trying to do exactly? If you want to install ringtones, that .txt file will not work, that's the indexing file for the telus music player.

try this in your txt file

Follow the instructions as they were posted earlier in this thread regarding what edits to make and it should work.
I don't have a telus phone, but I'm assuming the reason you have only .jas and .jad files in mmc1/jas/content/ is because the phone came pre with some java apps already installed

    good luck

    @ _Green77 & @ mini_telus : Thanks for posting in my absence

@ adrenalizer : It looks like you're using the wrong file. Try the one _Green77 & mini_telus posted. Those should work. Also, maybe try to purchase 1 ringtone legitimately and see where it goes. That's what I did my first time to get it started, so for you that should work also.

    Good luck.

If you have any other problems, let us know.

    @ myself and sprintusers

Why not just use http://rumkin.com/tools/sprint/ to upload to your phone? I mean if you have a data plan this would definitely be the way to go. I ceased looking for .txt indexing file because this was and is the easiest way to add files to to mah phone.

Peace out. BTW I'm hopefully going to be adding Pandora soon

    @sprintusers

It is true. for people with data plan, it is not an issue to download a big file from http://rumkin.com/tools/sprint/. However, for people without data plan, minimizing the size of file downloaded is one of the key to reduce the data usage, hence the cost; i.e. ~40cent per download.

    @ Lanhoj:

My problem is that I can only find one COM port that works, and when I try QCDM, it won't connect, saying the phone does not answer.

I'm having an issue with connected to the port.
I've tried every one and it says Failed Port# Does Not Exist.

I feel like an idiot, but I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong?

@ Senikl : You tried all 100 Ports? LoL, Doubtful. Anyhow, for it to work, the Drivers must have been installed correctly. IF they have been installed correctly, there should be 2 COMs that CDMA Workshop can connect to. If you only have one that it can connect to, then it isn't installed right. Only one will work when QCM is clicked though.

    Try rebooting your cell.

Keep me / us posted on your progress.

I use to have over 75 Custom Ringtones on my last cell (Motorola Krzr), but the Samsung Slyde is much more complicated to get them on (in comparison), So I haven't got as many.

I've uploaded my current bunch of Ringtones.

Here they are if you want them.

    Phone Call Ringtones:

    I'm on a Boat - Lonely Island
Claw Plaque - Futurama / Star Trek
    Final Countdown
    Main Menu music from Crackdown
Sponge Bob Got Back - Burger King ad
Hockey Night in Canada - Original
    Keyboard Cat - YouTube
    Night Rider - 2009 Theme
    Kung Fu Fighting
    Lion Sleeps Tonight
    Manamanah - Muppets
    Oompa Loompa - Willy Wonka
The 4 Peters - Family Guy
Peter Star Wars - Family Guy
Bird is the Word - Family Guy
Bag of Weed - Family Guy
Oh No you Didn't - Mercenaries 2 Theme

    ===== ===== ===== ===== =====

    TXT Msg Ringtones:

Bonjourrrrrrrrrrr - Willy from the Simpsons
    Crank
    Dunk Hunt Theme
    Giggidy - Qwagmayer
Keep it Real Homies - American Pie
    You've Got Mail - AOL
    http://www.filefactory.com/file/ag98c5g/n/Ringtones_zip

PS: Probably only usable in their current format with the Samsung Slyde on Bell / Telus & Koodo devices.

I rebooted my computer and cellphone, and now I can connect to Com4.

I've now successfully unlocked my phone.

I went through the complete BitPim process, and now I'm checking to see if the ringtone is on my phone

    Edit:

I restarted my phone, and I cannot find the ringtone. It's not under ringtones or my content.

Okay! Lanhoj helped me fix my issue.

A: Reboot after putting the songs on
B: Check under My files - Ringtones, and not under the preset ringtones from your provider.
