    @ FrankTheTank83: Yeah you do.

@ Issalius: You need a hard return at the end in the .TXT & .DD files, and no you don't put a hard return at the very top.

    Great post!

I just have to say THANK YOU for such an awesome, detailed, illustrated explanation. You were so much help to a novice like me. I admit, it took me quite a while to figure this out, but now that I did, it's worth it! I'm so excited to have my own ringtones now!

    Hi there!
I just wanted to say thank you so much to Lanhoj for his awesome instructional!
By the way I use the site makeownringtone and there's no need for the whole audacity file format thing, just save it as .gc with the ''all files'' option. The reason it didn't worked the first time I tried is that I paste/copy what you wrote for file #3 as asked but there's hard return after each lines and they're not like that in your files.
    Anyway, Thank again!

^^^ Glad to read you got it working Hugo.

Ya, I use MakeYourOwnRingtone site too, but in case that site went down or whatever I chose to say to use Audacity.

Enjoy your free Ringtones the way all cells SHOULD be!

ok i read the whole thread, maybe i'm stupid, but i managed to unlock the phone, make the .gc file with the ringtone and the .txt file too... i just don't know what a .dd file is and i have no idea how to create it!

if someone would please answer me, i'm so close i would really be pissed if i couldn't have my ringtones just because of a technicality.

@ florentine1986 : I posted default .DD files earlier in the thread, use those and modify the name within the file and the name of the file itself. Or purchase one ringtone from Koodo and use theirs, that's where mine came from because I too had no idea what a .DD file was, LoL.

@ Escobar956 : Google it, then when you download & run it 95% of them say it's a virus, but it isn't. I splurged and bought the program and it still gives the same message. So your PC will say it's a virus but it is definitely not one. Use that.

After much toying around with this I got it to work with my Koodo u450 Samsung Intensity.

Here's some tips that might help others.

    - You may consider telling the users how to find out their COM # (Device Manager, Modems, Properties of your phone, Modem Tab (iirc)

    - If the COM listed in Device Manager doesn't show your phone info in CDMA Workshop, try COM one above or below. (Mine showed COM8 in Windows but COM9 is what showed as my phone in CDMA Workshop.

    - You only need Audacity if you don't have any other type of music editing software. You basically need this to trim your ringtone down to < 30 sec. After that, you can just rename the file to convert it to a .gc file. Make sure that "Hide known file extension types" is unchecked in Folder Options > View > Advanced Settings

    - The original post should be updated when describing what should be in the .txt file. There has to be a space after each colon (. People are copying and pasting the data from your original post, which doesn't have the spaces after several of the entries and that's exactly what's causing them to not be able to do this. PLEASE consider updating the original post with this or a real link to a sample file as those sketchy filesharing sites suck balls and are annoying. How hard it it to legitimately host a 1kb text file?

Thanks again for the great tutorial and again please give sample files in the OP or at least put the spaces where they should be. It will save EVERYONE a lot of headache.

@ 200 Motels: Thanks for the heads up. Use the Micro SD to transfer images over, why bother doing the hard way of BitPim for something already very simple?
