New Fido 6GB/$30 Data Plan = $100 ECF FEE (3-YEAR CONTRACT)

Just got off the phone with a Fido Rep.
They just got the new data plan on their systems.
The plan costs $30 for a 6GB Data Plan for your iPhone.
But since its a PROMOTIONAL OFFER,
you are automatically enrolled into a 1 year Agreement with Fido.
Sounds good or no? Even though I hate agreements, I think I'm going with this data option.

Fido has no 1 year agreements.
By taking the 6GB data, you are locked into a 3 year data contract.

Business rules specify that the voice contract has to line up with the data contract but alas, retail level has no way of doing that. CS may do their own thing though..

    Okay,
The rep was like if you decide to opt out of the $30 data plan within a year, you will have to pay a fee of $100. You must keep the 6gb data plan with your voiceplan for a full year to avoid any cancellation charges.

Hmm, so either the guy in retention doesnt know or he lied to me :|
Would I be able to switch my data plan to the new one though? Does it matter that I'm on a $25 VP though?

Data is a 3 year contract from the day you activate it. If you cancel the data, DECF is $25-$100.

1 year Data Contract is a Telus thing.

For those of you who don't remember, when the 6GB/$30 plan was out last year, it also had a 3-year data contract attached to it.

6GB is on 3 year and if you cancell in 1st year you pay penalty. I'm wondering if 6GB would be only available for limmited time again or is it to stay.

would this work on other phones besides the iphone...

i know there are many threads about this - just wondering if this "new" data plan is a "new" being, different from the old.

Well technically it should. If u call fido right now and add the 6gb data they will ask u if u are using an iphone. If u say yes they will need the iphone imei number,if u say no,they will politely say NO
