Hey TMed, good to see you on the pre forum. My Ocean contract just expired so I'm in shopping mode for the next great cell phone. After my disappointment with Helio and the Ocean, I'm checking them all out. I like the G1, Pre is looking good and I have high hopes for the next Storm. I'm avoiding the iphone since AT&T doesn't have great coverage in my area.

I also have an Ocean, and I just picked up a Pre on Saturday. Unfortunately, I had problems porting my number over. In fact, they couldn't do it. The computer was giving them an error message saying that the number was not eligible to port. Since I had waited in line since 6:30 in the morning, there was no way I was leaving the store without a Pre. Consequently, I had no choice but to activate the Pre with a new number.Originally Posted by Jamboaz
I've had the same mobile number for more than 10 years, so there is no way I'm going down without a fight. When I get a chance, I am going to go into a different Sprint store and see if there is anything they can do to help me. One person in a different forum suggested that I port the number over to a prepaid carrier like T-Mobile To Go and then port over to Sprint. If Sprint can't help me to port directly from Helio, I may have to give this a try. In the meantime, I'm keeping my Helio account active.
I hope you find this information helpful.
Great info, thanks! I was worried something like that might happen as I too have had the same number for a long time.
Sorry to hijack the thread, back to the speed tests...
Yes, I didn't mean to stray off topic. You just happened to touch on an issue that warranted a response. I think I'll start a separate thread so it's easier for others to find this information. The moderators can then delete any related posts in this thread if they wish.Originally Posted by Jamboaz
