We're currently on a press call with Verizon CEO Lowell McAdam and Google CEO Eric Schmidt to discuss their new partnership, and while it's mostly a love-fest between the two with no real announcements, there's been some interesting tidbits. First off, Verizon will be launching two Android products in the coming weeks -- we'd say at least one of them will be the Motorola Sholes, and while the other is still a mystery, Google says it'll be "game-changing." Very intriguing. Second, and perhaps much more interestingly, Verizon's making a big push to be seen as the "open" carrier, and flatly stated that they'll be supporting Google Voice on their network: "Either you have an open device or you don't." That's a big change for Big Red -- just remember that a year ago Google and Verizon were still at each other's throats over 700MHz open-access rules. Now? It's rainbows and kittens all around, apparently. Lastly, there will be a major app push coming from these two -- Verizon's obviously going to preload Android Market on its devices, and there should be some 10,000 apps available when all is said and done. Not a bad show of support by Verizon, we'd say -- and there was a lot of talk about long-term roadmaps and a "family" of products, so we'd expect much more than just two phones and smiles over the next few months. Things are certainly getting interesting, no?

I hope at least one of it from Motorola with similar feature as Motorola Cliq. If Verizon Wireless have smartphones running Android-base OS, they can retain their customers. Otherwise, they will lose customers to AT&T and T-Mobile.

I'm not.. with the calender we saw yesterday I think 10/30 is a good bet... if not then.. soon after... after hearing the CEO's this morning and the amount of push VZW sounds like there going to give Android... they would be nuts not to get something out for the holiday.. and more so before black Friday. I'm 10/30 mid nov at the latest
I think after all this craziness we can conclude a few things.
The phone will be launched Dec. 1 according to the marketing sheet posted on androidandme.com on Oct. 1st that we all saw. They have since removed it and updated with this bit of info:
Update: (10/2): The information that was published had an embargo date of October 1, 2009. We respected the embargo and were later informed that the embargo date had been retracted. The image has been removed because we were asked not to share the information which is not yet ready for public distribution.
Which leads me to believe it had some validity. That source also said it would be announced in a couple of weeks (which would make it next week).
In conclusion: Hang on to your junk boys, we have 1 more week to see it for real and at least dec. 1st to have it in our hands.

10/30 was the beginning of marketing according to that sheet as previously discussed. Look at the top of the screenshot, it says marketing in red and merchandising in green.
