At the risk of going too far OT, it's basically because they have had to downsize a lot over the past 2 or so years since they are doing so bad financially. One of the things they had to cut was their WM team.
Thanks, so once Motorola get's back on track hopefully with Android they can pick up where they left off with Window Mobile. You know I'm glad Motorola is doing Android but the UI just's looks to me un polished and bla unlike Windows Mobile on Motorola, I know Windows Mobil has a lot of complaints being buggy and stuff but all around Windows Mobile looks way more polished with a way nicer deigned UI.

Stock, I like Android over WM, but I really prefer TouchFlo over anything anyone has done to Android (including Blur...I HATE widgets and widget based interfaces in general) so thats why I have a TP2 instead of waiting for this...
From what I seen of Sense UI on the internet, it looks pretty slick. I have never used it hands on, and I would love to have the ability to try it on the Sholes. But I am not going to be upset if I can't. To me the hardware is more important.
Google is not known for cool UI's. Looks at their existing web pages and apps. I think they design them to be quick and useful but not visually appealing IMHO. So the Droid follows in that vein. The Sense and Blur are a lot more appealing in an aesthetic sense and would most likely appeal to those looking for a cooler interface.
I understand, and realize this is probably your first pre-release thread. Information usually comes very slow, and then explodes. I think today is the beginning of the explosion.
Also, usually for Verizon phones, there is no announcement. Around here, we find out about them, and know they're coming, but the general public usually doesn't even know they exist until they hit the stores.
We just have to take our victories where we can, and today was a pretty big one for the Sholes and Verizon smartphones, in general.
ya i agree.. not only is this my first pre release thread but its the first time i have interest about a phone thats not already sitting on a shelf.. when i say interest i mean obsession
ya its starting to look like we wont get anything official until we see a commercial.. lol.. in all honesty if it comes out before december 1st im happy enough.
I am now personally watching this thread closely. Keep on topic or face a ban. Now back on topic discussing this awesome phone.

I have not seen any details of a "speaker phone" option. Will you be able to place it on a desk and have a telephone conversation with someone? Or will you always have to hold it up to your ear when ever you use it?
Check the pics of the homescreen, one of the icons is "Voice Dialing".
They wouldn't make a phone like this without a speakerphone and Moto has a history of excellent quality hardware, in particular speakerphone voice quality and volume.

Droid Bionic does GSM on US bands! (And open MIP profile too! )

How's their track record with making phones that have loud ringers? I would really like a phone that's capable of shrieking loudly enough to wake the dead, if I have the ringer turned all the way up.
The ringtone volume on my Nap when set to "Outdoor", the loudest profile, actually scares me...I generally leave it at "Normal" and never have a problem hearing it.
The real answer is totally model dependent though and there have been models with poor performance that have been much complained about.
hahaha I love it. until we get an official name we should all call it "STD"
I guess that I am really, really lucky I was not able to get a Storm! Not that I worked particularly hard at getting a Storm, but they were out for weeks so I figured i would just wait. Then the reviews came, and i waited longer...
Then i waited for the Storm 2.
Boy am I glad, because now I really, really want a killer STD!
