Motorola Droid A855 (aka Tao/Sholes/Shules/Flash) Pre-Release Thread

I kinda wish it had a trackball instead of d-pad. they get dirty easier, but are quicker to scroll and slide with.

I'm fine w/ the dpad. We have the touch screen for getting around. That d-pad screams "I iZ G4m4R!" Just wish it was on the other side...like every other controller since NES.

Ditto. I was going to order it on Friday but figured I'd wait a month to see what happens.

Haha, me too. WinMO just sucks. That and one forumite comparing the screen scrolling around to the Dare!

Well for the record Verizon Tester has posted at other sites and is he has been accurate with everyone post. He had a post about the Desire before anyone. So if he says mid October I'm going with that until further notice. It may have been pushed back though from the day he stated the release time.

the new release date is dec.23 a friend told who works at a verizon wireless store , dam i am pissed off i cant wait that long

I think your friend is speculating. VZW is keeping the date very close to the vest, and I doubt if stores have been given a firm date.

The reality is there is no released date as of yet for the Sholes. So only time will tell is the way I see it.

However IMHO no way it will be by the end of Oct, and late Dec is way to late on the other hand also. I'm pulling for the week of 11/16/2009......lol, its a happy medium from the Oct date going around, and earlier then the early Dec idea floating.

maybe you should follow my posts closer.others here and other sites will tell you i am always on point with product and release dates.
the sholes is freat but i also have seen a few copy's like it from other makers getting ready for release. so timing for moto will be critical.i think its gonna make or break them.so far over the past 4 motnhs of use i like the sholes more each week.its nice to have almost a uncrippled phone on vzw.

i am of course limited to what i can say in public.and i dont respond to pm's either so sorry this project is kept "dark"

im qonna say sometime late[meaning END] of October or first/second week of November..but sometime before the christmas shoppin frenzy begins. kinda makes sense because alot of people have been waiting for a verizon android phone.

I just hope they make sure it is working bug-free... I'd be better to miss the Christmas shopping season and have a phone that works vs. another Krave-like buggy software disaster.

I'll second that for sure. the last thing they need is another disaster like the Krave was when it was released.

like is said higher in the forum "let's compromise on mid november." lol. I HOPE it's out in October for my b-day, but you know that Android 2.0 is still unfinished. so as it looks like now i'll be waiting another month. heh.

If the Krave had what the Evoke had it wouldn't be so bad, why Verizon keeps slapping out dated UI menus, Evoke at least had custom widgets like weather like Krave should of had!

NO NO NO plz don't do that. Speaking for myself I hate d-pd on the left. I myself am much more of a fan of being on the right side then left

I hear that, however you gotta give them some slack I'd say. It was Motos first shot at a touchscreen, but the picked the wrong carrier to work on there first one for tho.....lol.
