you took my meaning the wrong way,i worded it wrong. in short ill post it when it is written in stone on a release date.if it were to be released in october then it will be buggy like the krave as it is that way now.
the next file i will load on it soon should be the final s/w.again the camera is fantastic.1 of my favorite features so far.
i kinda wish we put the d-pad on the left side too. as the rush in qwerty mode the d-pad is on the right and i hate it...personal pref though..

what makes the camera so fantastic? What i am hoping is that taking a picture is instant like on the pre and all the processing is done in the background thus giving you a short shutter time.

Also, you said the next file will be the final s/w, are you saying you are not going to post anything until android 2.0/eclair comes out (b/c that shouldn't be for a long time).

I think $199 with 2 year is really reasonable.

BTW about the media flo TV thing I swear I heard about a new one from maybe Nokia.

If NE2 = new phone every 2 years, isn't that about the same as buying the phone with a new 2 year contract?

Or do you expect that the Sholes might cost MORE than $199 with NE2? And if so, could I port my number away from VZ for a few weeks and then come back as a new customer?

I ask because I am off contract and going month to month with VZ, and I'm waiting for the Sholes to hit the street before I sign my next 2 year contract.

my contract expired 3 days ago so I too am now a m2m customer. NE2 on NEW phones is usually about $50 off. I was saying about the uncertainty of the NE2 because it could be $25. I have no clue. lol. All I know is that a lot people think it will be $199 with a new 2 year contract. so it could possibly be more or less, but we won't know until we are a) either told or b) find it for sale online at vzwireless.com

Great. So, to clarify, if we are MtM, on an expired contract, we should get the same price as any other new customer, provided we sign a new 2 year contract, (presumed to be $199). Is this correct?

yes. technically we are new customers since our contract has expired. also you can get your NE2 starting at your 18th month on your 24 month (2 year) contract.

I was just wondering since the Krave and Evoke shared a lot of the same problems. And how Bill worded his post made it sound like vzw rushed both.

Anyways no surprise about no more Krave updates. Cell phones are such a hit or miss. If it doesn't work well at launch its pretty much a failure. Sure they will release an update to get MOST of the stuff working. But it just better to release a new phone.
Even if they do release an update that fixes a lot of the problems the damagr is already done. As wr saw with the Krave, Storm, and Glyde.

True, but that really should not be the case... People pay good money for these phones and they could listen to there customers by adding what we want. But they don't. I would really like to see threaded text messaging on the Krave, and I know that will never happen!

I couldn't agree more. But it seems to be a trend with phones anyways. Since new ones come out every so many months they want to add features exclusive to that model to make it sell.

Heck dumb phones didn't even start getting threaded txt messaging with vzw till the Versa. And TBH there is NO REASON why the Dare and EnV2 could have not received this feature.

I would love it if the Krave (and other dumb phones) got updates whenever there was a new feature added. But alas it doesn't happen like that.

But I think that all of this is different for smart phones. Since you can upload your own stuff to it and kernals and what not. So here's hoping for the best

I'd also prefer for the d-pad to be on the left-hand side, but having it on the right isn't a deal breaker. As long as the final version doesn't have the god-awful black and red verizon color scheme that we saw in earlier renders, i'm all for this phone. Based on the most recent render you posted, looks like they did away with that stupid-looking hook chin on the right (bottom) also
