Don't know if this will work in eclair, but here's an article that offers a download link to an app called Screenshot (imagine that?) and also provides step-by-step of how to use it.

That would be nice for sure but no easy task is my guess at this point. The darn thing isn't out and we have no clue what software will work with it yet even seeing as we really have no SPECIFIC details on the devices.Originally Posted by wnrussell

what do you expect to see on oct 6. ?
the details are out there and if you want to se ea working unit most of the vzw store managers are using them to get familiar with them.
after using it for sometime i made up my own opinion on which is best rather it be the iphone cdma/sholes/g1/htc/bb/etc.
but that would be off topic.but in short i would say your either a mac user of a pc user is the only difference.gotta love the open apps.

Based on the valuable feedback and insider knowledge you've been providing in this thread I'm not sure I'd agree that your opinion is off-topic. I for one would like to know if you think there's a better alternative to this phone.Originally Posted by bill23
To be honest just an annoucnement from Moto and VZW at the Moto summit about it coming, kinda like what we saw early this month on the Cliq for TM. And also a look at what it has to offer from them seeing as we really do not have any concrete pics or videos of it yet.Originally Posted by bill23
As for hitting a store I will try today but I highly doubt they will have them by me. I stopped in a 2 stores a week or 2 ago and they had no TP2's to even look at or mess around with. And the managers at that store had never even saw one as yet themselves. Obviously way behind the 8 ball. I even asked about the Sholes and they knew nothing about it or that VZW was getting an Andriod device besides maybe an HTC tha tis coming b4 years end. The one guy was like you know more then I do obviously which I just laughed at.
Oh yea one thing I would like to relay to everyone from feedback I did get on this device. If and when you buy one make sure you have a Tf card for it as you can't do squat without one. From what I was told you can't even take a picture without having a card in it. And as it was put to me might as well grab yourself a 16Gb card to make it worth while for the long term. I don't know if 16Gb is the max size it will take tho.
I remember reading in one of the articles listing specs that it is supposed to ship with an 8GB card.
I'm sure it is possible, but my lead got it direct so I'm not sure if it came as how they will actually be boxed and sold. IMO tho 8Gb is not near big enough for a device like this tho. If you start loading it with apps, music, videos, pics...etc. 8Gb will be gone in a heart beat.Originally Posted by denmalley
Heck I read article not long ago saying they changed it supposedly to have a 16Gb drive built in. And for this reason is why I want to just have them finally make the announcement so we know the actual facts, not all the rumors/speculation continuing to be floated around. I realize alot of it going around is correct but there is still plenty we don't know in specific yet.
Wonder what the Actual name of the Sholes will be, perhaps Motorola Shlz? LOL....Originally Posted by Aixelsyd

a. does vzw have 15,000 employees smart enough to really use this phone?Originally Posted by wnrussell
b. i suggest they get anyone who has posted in this forum a nda and then one of these 15,000 phones to test. I bet we could really put this phone thru its paces!
I'm mostly a lurker here, and I'm definitely not 'in the know', but I'll say that it strikes me as more than a little odd that these phones are supposedly out and in the hands of VZW employees, and yet we don't have:Originally Posted by bill23

Thoughts?
Just read a review of mytouch3g in eweek , which says that the new active sync won't sync contacts nor exchange calendars. If this guy is correct, this is a real deal breaker. I need my phone to sync with my outlook seamlessly. Anyone know if this is true?
In answer to your question..Originally Posted by bill23
I am a mac user. No need for fanboi flaming from anyone, it's just what I like to use as I am also a graphic designer. I do like the iPhone a great deal, but there are things about it that bug me, ie: removable battery, lack of card slot, not that great of a camera, things/features that should be on the phone that aren't or are just catching up to rest of the world...yada yada... That being said, I have zero interest in jumping to AT&T to get one.
IMHO, I think the Sholes is a really good looking phone from the renders I have seen and will have the feature set I am looking for to actually stand up against an iPhone comparably. Generally I find MOTO's phones to be quite ugly. But this isn't a fashion show. I basically want a phone comparable/better than the iPhone on VZW. I grabbed the Dare when it came out telling myself "this is the closest I'll get to having an iPhone". I certainly have found myself disappointed lol.
I am hoping for,
1. Speed - better than current HTC phones out there (this has been rumored to be on par with iPhone and Pre in this regard)
2. Great build, good camera (5mp will do the trick)
3. Decent amount of built-in memory (read the 16gb as well and am crossing fingers)
4. Customization and open apps (android allows this) ..I am a noob in regards to android, so this would be my first phone to play with and am looking forward to it. I am not a huge fan of the "Blur" interface, but if all that has been said is correct, it either won't have it or can shut it off. Curious as to what Android 2.0 brings to the table.
In short, yes, I am looking for something that holds up next to the iPhone but on VZW. Hate it or love it, the iPhone really changed the industry on how a lot of people view a smartphone nowadays and it is what it is. I think LG could've done something in this space but really dropped the ball and focused on dumbphones. My fingers are crossed for MOTO.
And Bill, I would also love to hear your thoughts on the comparisons.![]()
