if this phone is as good as it looks on paper my iPhone may be going up on ebay.

I would like to switch back to verizon for sure but they don't have any appealing phones at the moment. (touch pro2 is just so-so when compared to a 3GS.)

    Google Sky Map

This is really a cool application which comes with the phone.

    Features
Search: Find planets, stars, and constellations guided by your phone.

Motion detection: Sky Map uses your phone's GPS, accelerometer, and compass to create a window in the sky that moves with your hand.

Celestial objects: Browse a map showing the brightest naked-eye stars, planets, sun and moon, constellation lines, horizon, cardinal points, and Messier Objects.

Navigation: Use automatic mode to let Sky Map adjust the map for you or switch to a manual mode that allows the map to be dragged with a finger.

    b. i suggest they get anyone who has posted in this forum a nda and then one of these 15,000 phones to test. I bet we could really put this phone thru its paces!
LOL we hack the phones on Day 1 of receiving them. That said, does anyone here think there will still be a use for Moto PST and BitPim for the Sholes?

bitpim is for BREW phones, does not work on smart phones WinMo or BB, i doubt it will work on Android OS phones either.

I think MotoTools was for Pre-Brew moto OEM OS, .... AFAIK: does not work on brew won't work on Android

Android is OPEN does NOT need to be hacked, maybe there are some tweaks for it just like windows.. to make it a little tighter a little faster a little cleaner ??

That's right. BREW is phasing out as smartphones are coming in. I just noticed that I can use the new Family Locator on a smartphone with a browser http://fl.vzw.com instead of needing Chaperone Parent installed.

Also my understanding that Android, while open source, comes locked up tight so telco's won't be inundated with people bricking their phones. It will still need to be rooted to allow for any non-authorized customizing.

Not yet, maybe about 33 days to go. I have lots of pictures of it I promised not to share, and a trip to see it planned. This is supposed to be a big surprise launch.

The guy in NJ testing it says he just can't put it down. I haven't heard him so excited about a phone for almost a year now.

So is it a world phone? Will that answer be revealed at the upcomming event?

Heck, I'm mostly a lurker here @ HoFo, so suffer me this.

@ Ark6, The only time I found a need to use bitpim for a moto phone was to load the java stuff on my razr's. As far as PST, I used it once. I call it Piece of Sh! and Troublesome. RSD CDMA General does what PST did, but WAY better.

As far as anyone who has posted in this thread having their grubby paws on a Moto Sholes, hehe, just read between the lines, I 'really' doubt it. (drooling)

I just hope that the pricing of this unit when it does get released in 33 days? is compatible with the Ozone that I sent back. Ozone's list price was $429, got it free with a NE2, so hopefully the Sholes will not be too much more than that.

I LOVE RSD! It also does MSUs job better to!
