Sounds like the same size there abouts of what the Napoleon has for a standard battery, which IMO is still not big enough to power it.
I wonder if the Quad Band radio on the A4500 (Nap) is one reason why it needs so much power. If that's the case, I would rather save my Napoleon for World travel, and use this one as my day-to-day workhorse.
I didn't see anything about GSM listed in the FCC docs.
Eh, that probably means that I will definitely have to switch to a GSM carrier, or pick up a Storm 2 or TP2, and I'm not too fond of the TP2's obese form factor or RIM's ugly OS. Come to think of it, that Sony Ericission Xperia X3 is looking good...
Check out the link for info about the OMAP 3440 processor.
The specs are unbelievable and the schematic shows that many of the various functions we have been discussing are actually built in to the processor itself and completely integrated into the multi-core chip.
Also note the advanced power management features that are built in and may explain the ability to have an even smaller battery than the Nap and ostensibly be able to perform well with all of the high demand features that it has.
The onboard security features look both fascinating and very powerful as well as intimidating from a "hacking" perspective. It looks like flashing and access to the NVM can be completely controlled and encrypted at the hardware level.
All in all it looks like an amazing package of capabilities...once again we'll see what they (Moto+Android) have done with that raw potential.

Yeah... I was thinking about maybe using Dad's 2 year discount to get this and giving him my Krave. Then spend the extra money on the data plan. If it meant the Tao was a world phone.
I don't know what I'm going to do either. Still got to talk to someone at vzw to even figure out what my options are.

Now we have to wait and see if the software side of this phone will support all of these awesome features. I really hope Verizon pulls through with this phone as it will be my first smart phone.
Personally I don't think so. If it was then it would just be longer before it gets released I'm sure as it is more work to do to make sure all modes work correctly when traveling abroad. Secondly I don't get where folks thought it was a world phone in the first place. It has never been discussed that is would be a world phone.

Could be, or just because of the hardware it is running, let alone throwing WinMob on top of that which is not the great software in the world for power management IMO. And your plan is the exact same as mine. Keep the Nap for a world phone, and use this one for daily use in the states.
@kbman thanks for the GPS & chipset info you posted bud. Not to get sidetracked but what we need is for someone to figure out how to crack QuickGPS for use on the Nap. I did see the other day someone did it and has a download for use on the Omnia already, but no dice on it working on the Nap either as I tried it.

I think it was assumed that it would be a world phone because all smartphones released in recent memory have been. At this point, the lack of a GSM radio is kind of unusual.

I thought it was at one point. But I'm sure it was speculation.
I guess I also thought that because of the caliber that the phone was supposed to be that it would just be a world phone. Jumping to conclusions a lot with this phone.

I hear ya but IMO 2 problems with that idea. One to many assumption get made in general today. And secondly besides the couple of BB world phones all the other devices are WinMob and not Android. And if I had to guess that would be why it is not a world phone as they are already dealing with something new. Let alone adding more problems into the development and design of a new product. Plus with VZW going to move toward LTE they (Moto & VZW) would be better off working out details of multi mode/band devices on there next generation of devices IMO. Lastly this device is not going to be pushed for business users is my guess. And with that said and what we've seen/heard about the specs of it being like a gaming/media unit there really would be no need for it to be a world phone if they push it towards a younger crowd and not business users. Just my .02 tho

I don't disagree. I'm sure there are plenty of reasons that this won't be a world phone.
Personally, I could care less. I can count the times that I've been out of the country on one finger.

I'm with ya there bud on both accounts. Even at that I still have and plan to keep one of my Napoleons after this gets released so it won't matter to me either way at the end of the day anyways.
