Can't wait for the pics and thanks! I second protecting the ID of your source as their jobs are not worth the risk of exposure.
If the phone is smarter then you, then maybe it's not the phone.

@ kbman, I second the thanks from Aix on the technical info you posted. I guess to say a phone has aGPS 'only' would really be a misnomer since all cell phones are now required to have built in GPS, right? The aGPS only assists the built in GPS by using cell tower triangulation. It's funny as my Nap doesn't even have any IP or port settings in the GPS section of the f/w, so maybe for the Nap, all it uses is the built in GPS only? I also downloaded that 'hacked' version of Quick GPS, but never tried it, thanks Aix for the info.

On to another question specific to the Tao. Does anyone know if it'll use the same type of voice recognition as we're used to on our other Moto phones? That ended up being my last little dissapointment with the Ozone (and, well, knowing about this bad boy coming soon, lol).

    Another little tidbit i found.

A review of the N900 running Maemo 5.0 which is a pretty spectacular piece of software.

The relevance here is that this phone (correct me if I am wrong) also uses the same ARM Cortex-A8 processor the Tao will, and does it beautifully.

I guess they aren't playing when they say this processor/ chipset combo is a beast.

hmm... IF this is a "google experience" (hope that's the right word) device. I would think that the voice recognition software would be from google. I'm not sure though.

I wonder if you could download different voice recognition software from the app store.

Same goes for the caliber of the technical information provided here.

It's a different culture here...and I'm very appreciative of that fact!
I agree! But even with the people using the Motorola phones. It usually seems to be people of a different culture. The ones who want anything to do with modding them that is. :-P
    Verizon UI? HAHAHAHAHA!

    Thanks for the pics!
It's really hard to sit here and read all the posts about
how nice the phone is and how we should all be patient, but just
like many of you, I have been waiting for an awesome phone on Verizon. I hope

I forgot... was it confirmed or just speculation about the Sholes being a "Google Experience" (again hopefully the right name) phone?

Judging from the pics the status bar is the same that is seen on the other google phones from T Mobile. I think this would confirm that the Sholes is a google experience phone.

Which then means we can put to rest that vzw is going to cripple the phone

Thanks a bunch for the photos Mr. Russell

Thx, Saul. I did forget that there is another bill in this thread/HoFo known as bill23. I just call wnrussell 'bill' at another site, and he just calls me 'teddy'.

And on to the Tao, is everyone's drool apparent yet???!!
