Is that like people deciding to get the Sholes when they don't even know what it looks like(if it looks different from the original pictures) or what it feels like in the hand or even if it works like its suppose to?
Perhaps...I think most people's decision making processes are fundamentally subjective with only the thinnest veneer of objectivity or rational thought...but that's me!

Is the phone running eclair right now? The reason I ask is because the marketplace on the phone in them pictures looks like donut. I guess unless we get a lot more info next week from motorola on this phone, I just have a hard time believing its still only a month away.

Exactly what I thought. The early screens were quite disheartening as you'd expect Eclair to look a whole lot better with an OpenGL ES 2.0 driven UI.
Yep the Storm was dead out of the water for most Storm users. Even the once monthly OS leaks and optimized Hybrid OS's only made the phone usable but not in the way the phone was hyped. I'm just hoping that either this phone or the rumored HTC android phones live up to their hype.
The Tao/Sholes that a "highball" from Verizon showed me about 3 weeks ago had 1.6 Donut running on it. As being an Android Developer you must be able to filter out bs that is made up by people that spread rumors. This phone is running Donut. This phone most likely won't drop until November so it's steam can be built up for higher sales during the holidays. Questions? Just ask..

If you have time, I'd like to hear why you're giving up the BB for this instead of getting the Storm 2?
After playing with a friends G1 I fell in love with android.... I use gmail as my primary email anyway, so its not like I'll be loosing BEZ access or anything major. I wont go into the laundry list of issues I've had that have gotten slowy better with updates.. those are well documented. The added apps for android are a very nice feture as well as wifi. Its not that I have anything aginst RIM. But running the Storm, the storm2 and android aginst eachother android is just a much better fit for my lifestyle. From what I've read the Storm 2 will be a nice device and I know there are alot of simular apps for BB as there are android and the ipohne for that matter but I have found the BB dev comunity supporting the Storm a bit lackluster.. alot of the apps I have tried are built for BB's with hard keyboards and do not work as well as I would like on the storm. In the end.. its a matter of personal pref.. and mine is android.... the sholes/tao just happens to be the strongest unit so far so that is where I'm looking
The Storm 2 will be an amazing phone but, until Blackberry makes a OS that is more like Android it will still fall short. Everyone get ready for 4 droids for Verizon for Christmas ;-)
-Will Verizon gimp this phone with their own crapware (signs point to no)
-How long will it take to get a solid version of 2.0 on the phone for delivery (December?)
-Any chance the verizon network won't be able to handle the network load of these types of phones (anything is better than ATT)
-will the big app makers finally turn to Android for the better apps (navigation, the best fart apps)
-will it come out too late for my 2 year upgrade to be used effectively (not likely, Verizon lags hard and only takes on phones after months tuning)
See I am not sure if I will snag this phone, the upcoming LG phone (which looks kinda like the one that will be released on Vodafone) or the Samsung... I have always been a fan of Luck Goldstar (LG) devices over Motorola for years but we shall see.
