I know a lot of people don't like it, but I am a little sad that motoblur isn't incorporated into this phone. It's cool how they had all the social networks into a cloud service. I wish they had some sort of option where you could either choose to have the motoblur service or not to have. I think I speak for all when I say Tuesday is going to be a very exciting day.

You would take the Hero over the Sholes if both were on Verizon? Why?Originally Posted by MYhofoUSERNAME
Probably because of the Sense UI which IMO is ridiculous.Originally Posted by MrZ123
If/when they root the sholes though, you could surely get a ROM with Sense UI or MotoBlur, couldn't you?Originally Posted by matthew brideau

just simple laws of attraction. i dont dabble in technical jargon, and ive never used either phone, so its definitely not performance related, but just seeing the hero jumped it to the top of my "i wish this phone came to verizon" list.
and i'll admit, HTCs have always "done it" for me, as they're all i had with cingular/att...which is why the imagio is the top phone on my non-android list for now, but im not getting anything until i can test out android on a released verizon phone or at least watch the phone run..
I'd take the Hero, but not the Sprint version. The original Hero is a phone I've lusted after from day one. I know this is pretty shallow, but it mostly has to do with how the phone looks.Originally Posted by MrZ123
In the end, I'd probably own the Hero for about a week, remember how much I hate touch only devices, and exchange it for the Sholes/Tao/Droid.
It's great to have a nice UI like Sense but what's the use if it's going slow down and not run well on the hardware (of the Hero)? Stock Android is OK and continually getting better, plus as others said there's a chance that other UI's like Sense will get ported over to run on the Sholes. But having that extra hardware makes a tremendous difference even if you don't follow the technical stuff. Just look at an iPhone 3G vs 3GS comparison video, you'll see why it's so great to have. Applications load faster, web pages render more quickly, you can multitask more efficiently, etc. It's possible that battery life might be better as well.
The Sholes has a bit of a funky design but it looks like it's really going to make a huge splash. Great hardware paired with an OS that's pretty open to customizations and has a growing developer community can only mean good things.
sense ui didnt slow down or make the phone not run well on the videos i saw, everything ive read is that it runs much better on the sprint version than the gsm version. unless you have a sprint hero i think you sound foolish assuming it'll slow it down just to compensate for it not being on the phone we're getting.
its fine that you want to back up the sholes, but its all personal preference and if i had a choice of the 2 i doubt id take a second look at the moto..but this is all a moot point, which doesnt belong in here anyway, since we arent getting the hero and are getting the sholes.
And its most definitely irresponsible to say you can "probably" load similar UIs onto the Tao/Droid. Verizon is probably working overtime to make sure we can't root this phone.
LOL, really? Do you actually believe that they care?Originally Posted by fenrir00
Of course they care...and the OMAP 34xx M-Shield security features look very formidable indeed.
It is likely to be a very complicated process to gain root access and modem pass through so that memory dumps can be achieved.

Well, I won't buy an Android till I'm 100% sure it can be rooted/flashed...

And if it can be flashed with Sense UI, great! I honestly feel like if it had Sense UI on it more people would buy it over MotoBlur, but that's just my opinion. But flashing this phone?Who knows.
