personally id say that doc from A&M was a little to detailed and long to be fake, and more realistic for a release date, we can all safely say and understand this phone deff wont be out by the end of the month like previously sited on a vzn doc..

whether it comes out late nov or early dec, i really am going to be disappointed if we dont hear a grip about this phone on tuesdays motodev.. i can be patient (although really hard with OCD, lol) but i want to know all the final specs on what it has and can do potentially.. well see i guess, would be nice to see price and a true realease date soon

Trying to decide whether to switch over to iPhone or not...

Do you think Android will have the medical apps available to the iPhone within the next year? It'd probably be easiest for me to combine my phone and PDA (if I stay with Verizon, would have to use an iPod Touch).

I'd go for AndroidandMe. Driod sounds stupid, and the article at AndroidandMe had "XXX" replacing the name, which looks like a 3-letter word...

Not a chance. Iphone apps will always reign supreme. Too bad its on such a piss-poor network.

Always? iPhone devs are already jumping ship at a rate that should be alarming to Apple. Their days of dominating the hardware market are numbered... and as they count down, so does their grip on the apps.

I don't know I would go that far. The only reason they will for a while is they have had a 2yr head start. Over time IMO Andriod stuff will catch up if not surpass iPhone stuff as there will be way more devices using and running Andriod and consumers will demand more.

I'm not sure where BGR is getting this 500mhz CPU from. Every single other site that has ever listed specs for the "Droid" has always listed it as a 600mhz CPU.

You have a source to back that up??

iPhone seems to attract more and more devs with its guaranteed profit (millions of users) compared to Android devs who aren't making much money (acc to reports as recent as last month). In addition to that, iPhone's unified hardware makes development a lot easier and marketing more efficient.... I'd LOVE to find out that the opposite is true, and that Apple should be alarmed at the state of its app development.

That should pretty much answer everyones questions... The processor in this phone is said to have higher performance than the Sony PSP.

I would assume that with all the technology they are putting into this phone and the fact that it has the capability to play 720p video... that even at 600mhz that the processor is designed to be very efficient...

Even though it is only 70 or so mhz faster than the current android phones im sure it will blow them all away. Also considering we have seen the recent upgrade to the HTC hero OS which has made it substantially faster. Think of pentium 4 to Core 2 Duo... 3.2ghz machines back down to 1.5 ghz machines that were faster in almost every category... or even now 4ghz pentium 4s vs the new core 2 quads with 2.8 ghz.... its all about improving technology... not just mine is bigger (faster) than yours

All in all this phone is going to be FAST!!! Thats all you need to know.

Back one topic: Where are the pictures of the keyboard!!!! ahhh i think we are all dying here! :-D

Patience young skywalker, android is still relatively new, and tao will open up a tremendous amount more people into the android world we dont need to see proof of this happening, whether it already started or not it will happen, ill give it 1 year or less until android is fully dominating apple.. there taking an iphone type of idea and applying it to MULTIPLE types of phones, not just 1, the iphone.

i wouldnt be surprised if 5 years from now apple wont even be a competitor unless they come out with something new in the mean time, android is going to kill it (by kill it i mean dominate) in the mobile world, then there going to kill it in the Desktop world..

First victom, apple. Second, microsoft. lol

I'm sure Touchdown will cover whatever Android itself doesn't. It has tasks listed in what it syncs:

Thanks for the link to Touchdown. Where I work only allows devices purchased by the organization to sync with Exchange natively. There is an iPhone app which uses Outlook Web Access to do the same thing. I wasn't able to figure if Touchdown will do that or not.

I am not sure you can make the argument that having unified hardware will always make you have more developers or easier to develop for. Maybe the developers want something that will run when the phone is in sleep mode? Maybe you app depends on running in the background. Maybe some people want choice. Choice of types of devices and choice to run other apps all the time. I think the Iphone does what it does very well. I just think we need to move forward. (which apple could very well do also). I do believe with many different choices of phones on many different carriers. Has the potential build the developer audience very fast. Anyway lets get back to the sholes/Tao/Droid?

I also think that the androidandme.com seems very repetitive but hope that a lot of the info is true.
