enV Touch Theme Hacking and How-to Guide (Updated 7/11/09)

i made another theme but i dont know how its gonna look though. I tried using graphics instead of just gradient backgrounds this time. Its kinda hard to make a theme with graphics and not make it look cluttered. Tell me if everything lines up (the black boxes that go behind the words cummunications, multimedia, and settings & tools) But here it goes.

I think it would look a little better with black and white icons with red accents. If I get time i'll make some or if someone else wants to that would be cool too.
Also if anyone likes this theme but just not the colors, tell me and i'll change the hues around and make it a different color

WOW. i'm stunned. afaik nothing similar to this is available for the voyager..
i don't think many here understand the gravity of what you're doing..for as long as i've had the voyager (since shortly after its release) people have experimented with loading on themes to no avail..and i myself have poked around bitpim with no such luck.

Yeah, unfortunately, the folder where this theme is located on the Touch is empty when you view it within the Voyager's filesystem. Very cool stuff here.

is there anyway you can create a shortcut to the security part of the phone so we can lock it faster?

your talking about re-programing/altering the firmware ( cooking a new rom )

what he is doing is changing the images in a swf/flash file, that make up the look of the theme,

what you want is something entirely different.

what program do you use to make them

I use adobe photoshop CS3 and sometimes Jasc Paintshop Pro X1. But theres tons of free software you can use to make this kind of stuff. I'm only 17 so I'm definitely no professional graphic designer but I'm hoping to get into that field.

Just curious for those who know... Do you have to be 18 and graduated from high school to actually get a job as a graphic designer? Or is it a self employed job? I'd love to get paid for my work one day.

well actually themopedwhiz there is a section of the script in the swf that loads the menus so theoretically we could change it to load the security menu. Also if you can I really think some custom icons would go great with the pictures you made. I will get to work putting these together in themes.

The exact procedure are in the readme file in the download but I will Post them here:



Instrustions for install -

1. Make sure you have the latest version of BitPim

2. Manually set your enV Touch to the Voyager profile in BitPim

3. Browse to this location in the file system: /flash/ui/menu/

4. In there, there will be a file named "topSclassType1Sub.swf"*

5. Right click on the file name and click "Overwrite"

6. Browse to one of the themes included in this archive with the same name

7. Click on the file and then click OK

8. It will then replace the file

9. Restart the phone right after and make sure you have the theme set to Blue Inspiration.

10. Voila! Now when you click on the menu icon you will see your new theme.


*If you want you can also save a backup of the old theme just incase you want to switch back.

No prob. And thanks for the compliments. I'll make more later and start working on the icons. Like I said I dont have an env touch (I wish) so if someone uses a theme tell me how you like it or if somethings wrong with it and I'll fix it.

Phone themes are a first for me but I cant tell you how often people use my work and dont give me credit for it or even say thanks... As if I owe it to them!

I switched from tmobile to verizon the other day and got a voyager 2 or env touch or w/e its called. I used to be able to do stuff like this wit my sidekick. But I'm bout to use dat blue one and the iphone one i think. So can yall send me pix of what yalls look like? It shows a preview for the iphone but not for the "floral grunge".

Either y2kss66 or kevnrussl can yall make a preview pic like a screen shot or a live pic or vid of it before I download it... I just got my phone and I'm tryin to do as little hackin with it as possible
