I thought the Arc was pretty good at first...

Man, I have no luck with cell phones. I first got an LG Flare from VM and the web browser wouldn't work at all. VM CS wasn't able to do anything to fix that. No amt of resetting the phone or switching accounts, etc. worked. So now I got a VM Arc Gold from Target and I really like it. But... every time it tries to connect with my Bluetooth car kit, it locks up solid. Truly baffling - all my BT headsets work fine with it, but I don't like messing with those while driving.

Is this probably a defective unit and needs to be replaced? Or should I look for something else... again? All I really care about in a phone any more is good call quality, a decent WAP browser, and reliable BT. I'm thinking of getting the Mantra - I like flip phones. I just want something that works right most of the time... but which phone would really be the most reliable?

Well, I can tell you that I've used two different BT headsets with my ARC and never had any trouble with locking up. The ONLY time my ARC freezes is if I'm playing Tetris, put it on pause for a minute, and go back to the game. Then it freezes. Never understood that...but it isn't a big enough deal to me to worry about it.

In any case, I'm thinking you got a defective phone...that's the first I've heard of anyone on this forum having a problem like that with the Arc.

I wish you luck. And don't worry...it's the phone, not YOU.

Thanks, I actually stopped back at Target tonight and picked up a Samsung Slash. So far I like it pretty well (like I said, not being picky). If it actually works well, I think I'll keep it and just return the Arc. Tough one... I really did like the Arc. Well, we'll see!

Great! Good luck with it. I hope it works out better than your Arc did.

In the end, I decided I liked the Arc better, so I took it back to Target and exchanged it for another. The new Arc doesn't lock up or have any of the glitches the first one did. Guess I just got a lemon!

Pretty happy now that I have an Arc that works right. Thnx for your input!
