Local Freedom plan on National Freedom plan or National Automatically?

I have local freedom 1200 or what ever it is here in East Texas.
I have prl 30042 now and it seems to me that I am not roaming any more when I get out of my local area. I have never roamed before anyway but if I need to go out of state I would call and have them change me to NF plan for a month then change back to my LF plan.

Anyone else with a local plan from ALLTEL notice if they are roaming when they go outside there LF area?

I went to San Antonio for 4 days and my triangle never even showed up. And according to the map I should have been roaming the whole time.

Long story short I have to got to South Padre in a few weeks and wonder if I need to call and change to NF plan just in case.I wonder if since we have VZW prls now if we are just put on National plans (I doubt it but that would be cool)

There is no change in your coverage area. The way roaming indicators are shown on Alltel phones has changed. Now the only time a "roaming" indicator appears is when you are on a network that will charge roaming on the National Freedom plans. For Local/Greater Freedom you go by your coverage map. It's always been this way, though I know some sales reps have told customers in the past about the whole blinking and steady triangle applies to Local/Greater Freedom. This is not and never was the case.

You say in the past try the other day!!

That’s kind of what I thought but I know I have been to San Antonio before and have not been charged roaming. Maybe I got lucky!

    Thank you,
