To some extent, they do: On their main page for prepaid plans, they have a list of phones they're willing to sell you for prepaid service. They ultimately make the rules on that sort of thing, ya know?

I'm sure there is a keyboard-equipped phone that VZW uses or has used in the past that will work. But I'm sure you realize why they don't maintain a list of discontinued VZW phones that are 'okay for prepaid' and another list for 'needs post-paid data plan', especially when they can make more money selling you a brand new handset.

They sticky-ed the following thread for a reason:

The phone in those commercials seems pretty nice, too.

    That's not exactly true.

This is what I was going to suggest. Cheaper and can use almost any VZW phone.

if your wanting to activate the lg env 3 verizon phone on a INpulse prepaid plan, and make sure it has a clean ESN, then just follow these steps:

    2. Follow prompts for creating a new account
    3. Enter Zip Code
    4. Your phone will be programmed with your new number and you'll be set.

or you can go to www.verizonwireless.com/prepay and activate your phone free

As covered a number of times already, since it's a phone that isn't allowed on VZW's pre-paid service (due to the fact that it has some enhanced data services like an HTML browser and requires being on a NW plan) you won't be able to activate it.

I have the Motorola Rival A455 on the prepaid core $0.99 plan a day, and ALL of my features work, and it has an HTML browser. If you don't believe me, check on the internet everywhere or call 1-888-294-6804 . I don't have a data package either.

Vz may have relaxed a bit since a friend has that phone on prepaid with no issues. He may have just slipped through the cracks
