Hopefully a few minor bugs will be fixed, but I'm curious to see if we'll see any feature expansion.

I hope this is true, as it may prove Nokia is starting to really* support the NAM market.

Looks as though the N97 sold reasonably well..
    I don't understand either.

I'm not holding my breath for the NAM update, personally. Although, my review unit (borrowed from Nokia for a few weeks) is a Euro, so I guess I'm not too bad off.

Ah, you seem mighty confident this will fix most of the issues with the phone. While I hope it does for everyone's sake (I haven't taken the plunge with it), I honestly don't think it will be a huge update.

I agree...it was the V20 upgrade that changed the entire useability of the N95

Does anyone know if the OTA upgrade is more user friendly than the upgrades done thru PC Suite?

My order from Dell should be in on July 1st, so whatever is in the firmware update will be good timing for me.

They're typically the same - it's the device that makes the difference. Older phones without UDP support basically hard reset the phone when you upgraded the firmware. Newer phones, including the 5800, N79, N97, etc support UDP (User Data Preservation) and make it so that a firmware update doesn't hard reset everything. I updated Mrs. Guru's N96 twice and handed it back to her as soon as I was done - zero reconfiguration needed.

July 1st is probably the day the European N97 is getting the update.
The source of this is the Nokia Conversations Twitter Page which clearly states:
Official: N97 SW 1.1 (11.x.021) to be released to first variants on July 1st 2009
First Variants to me translates as N97-1 which is the European N97.
So until farther clarification, like Rcadden said, I am not holding my breath, but I am definitely crossing my fingers!
