My N97 (RM-507) received the update today and it installed just fine. The backlight bug seems to be gone, and the only hitch so far is that I had to manually reset the Nokia Messaging widget to my e-mail address.

Now I'm taking my dog for his run and leaving the N97 on and when i get back i will start my review.

Odd.. mine is downloading 146mb worth of data. Is that what you downloaded OTA in 3 min?

Mine (NAM N97-3) didn't show anything available OTA so its not like I had a choice but if I did, I'd rather get the 146mb over the PC than whatever you got in 3 min OTA..

I hope this update helps my N97. Rebooted in the middle of a conversation last night and dropped my call twice on my ride home. While showing full signal. Updating now.

Strange, mine's exactly the same except that it's black. Maybe I'll get the update when I plug it into my PC later.

    Annoying !!.

Updated via PC suite, took about 5 mins! It restored the data & applications.

EDIT: I noticed that the unlock/backlight bug is fixed!

I was about to say that. It does restore all your contacts and apps. This is interesting. I was hoping for a fresh start to be honest so that I can get the Facebook and Accuweather apps back

You can always hard reset to start everything from scratch after the FW update.

Updated FOTA this morning on my Euro review unit....

It *seems* to get better reception, though I think that it might more accurately be improved EDGE-3G handoffs, given my location/situation. Still nice, though.

It's not really much faster (and I have animations/auto rotate disabled), but it's more stable. Buttons are responsive, whereas they used to take 5-10 seconds to register a touch, previously.

This is the firmware it should have launched with, IMO. There are still some things that need to be fixed, sure, but at least it's usable.
