Has to be something systemic. I always get to 22.9M on the download of the firmware. I've tried all the 2 front and 2 rear USB ports on my computer, as well as going through the 5th and 6th on my Dell 2407 (even though it says you shouldn't go through a hub, etc), and it always gets to 22.9M. I tried my wife's computer and it gets to 22.9M on a new install of NSU.
I'm guessing it's either an issue with my Router/firewall (not being blocked and looks like vanilla HTTP traffic) or possibly NAT traversal. The only other possibility is that both my my windows PC and my wife's are not USB 2.0. My Macbook Pro doesn't have Windows on it....
Samething was happening to me. I tethered the phone and downloaded it that way. It got farther the first time but still failed. The second time though it picked up where it left off and finished fine.
I couldn't agree more on that point. I was in an Apple store today with my son and got to play with the 3GS. All I could do is ask myself: what the heck I'm doing with the N97..too late now but that is impressive and illustrates how a touch screen device should work..period
+1
But then I remember, I have a decent camera, a real smartphone with real apps (not just games but Quick Office, etc) and a pimped out looking device...

Yea the N97 is ok for what it does...I'm not complaining but the Iphone really does impress
Sure, but it's a simplistic device for people who aren't really demanding. Symbolism over substance. Jailbreaking can mitigate some of its issues, but not all. As a phone alone, N97 is far superior. As a convergence device, it's far superior. As an app platform, not so much. Synthesis and elegence of the UI has always been part of Apple's genius, but they've never been accused of innovation.

Agreement. I've never had a problem using any of my multitudinous Nokia's but that iPhone is a toy that I can't even get to respond to my finger touches. The N97 may not break new ground, but it handles my multiple email accounts, web browsing, music, news, photos, mail for exchange synching my google calendars and contacts, blogging, and I can run them all simultaneously.

Where can I download mail for exchange for the N97?
I don't have any issues with email, word docs, excel, music, browsing etc on the iPhone.. Even the cam is pretty decent... I'm not sure how exactly is/are nokias more "superior" to this "toy" of a phone...
Does it not make calls, do txts, send/receive emails, play music ?
The n97 looks and feels like a brick, the touch screen is not as responsive as the iPhone , the browser is no where as smooth and fast... But, because it has a 5 megapixel cam and multitasks it is a superior phone ?
I just perused through the Download! App and couldn't find MfE.
I'm also trying to stay away from the Ovi Store, until Nokia get their act together. I did however browse the online Ovi Store and couldn't find MfE as well.

Might have to try tethering. I bypassed my router and network entirely with a Windows laptop with USB2.0 directly to the modem and still fails at exactly 22.9M downloaded, like always. Most peculiar.
NSU says I should be in the "general profile." What do they mean by that? I've switched back to "Normal" from my custom one, but that doesn't appear to make any difference.... I'm in PC Suite mode on USB....
