I've tried at least 10-12 times since the 1st.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled the latest PC Suite as well as the Software Updater and connectivity. PC Suite sees the N97 fine, I'm able to back up my contacts and data, software updater sees the current version and identifies the new version right but when it goes to the download it always fails at exactly 22.9M downloaded. Guess I'll try Ovi Suite maybe.

My PC is older (Windows XP MCE with SP3) maybe that's why it's failing since it's not XP Pro or Home (I also tried on a Home PC). My "main" machine is usually my MacBook Pro, so maybe I need to install Windows XP or Vista on it or something. Anyone updated from Windows 7?

Why do you need to backup? I thought the N97 preserved the data through a FW update. I updated mine as soon as I removed it from the box, so I don't know if it actually does preserve data.

    ^ It does.

So I finally updated my FW last night.

Can someone please confirm my version of Accuweather is the latest? v 1.0.20090513
Seems to be a little snappier but we'll see.

With the unlock slider, it works MUCH better now... mine unlocks and turns the screen on every single time. I think I tested it for 5 straight minutes just now. I do notice that the double vibrate when unlocking does not happen every single time though. Anyone else experience this?

It's supposed to, mostly just testing that everything else works in PC Suite.

Because it is always a good idea to backup before you do anything that effects your phone in such a major way. Not just FW updates but also changing your product code, installing beta software, messing with PyS60, etc.

mmm new firmware. I like! Its seems the sms messaging opens slightly quicker now. Given I do have 1100+ messages stored (trying to see how many I can get before it lags) and its still going fine.
    Let's all get a long.

Failed 3 more times in a row. Since this is on the Download, both the on screen thing and the FAQ at nokia.com indicate it's either my internet connectivity or the Nokia servers... always failing at 22.9M is pretty suspicious, though. Could this have bearing on the phone itself?

How do I find a local Nokia Care facility to see if they can flash it? If there's one in the LA area, I'd rather do that than do a return since my phone seems flawless in every other way except the ability to flash.

Uninstalled and reinstalled PC Suite. Guess I'll try Ovi Suite even if that seems horribly bloated compared to the PC Suite which works perfect. Wish they had a Mac version of Ovi since my MBP is pretty beefy.

Do you have a friend with another computer and internet connection? Go for that and just download the software updater, not the entire suite.
