No reason why such good and important news for owners of a really expensive phone with terrible software shouldn't be on the first page... instead of burried in a massive thread that has little value at this point. Right?

Why shouldn't they? lol jk. IIRC both of those usually stay on the first page...

Worst thing about the big official thread is that it's not maintained/indexed (links from the OP, etc) and becomes very difficult to find what you're looking for after the fact. Not like there's an enormous amount of activity otherwise in s60.

The official thread was more of a speculation thread anyway, and will probably go away. I could see this one in the support or bugs thread, but it does have merit on it's own.

This is why I like Nokia. I know they fix things right away. Looking forward to get my Facebook and Accuweather widgets back.

We could go back and forth all day. I'm just playing devil's advocate and yes it is very important information. However, when Dr Tran's head explodes from all the N97 threads, make sure you remember that it wasn't my fault

Anyway, let's get back to talking about this firmware update.

Twitter seems to be where you gotta be to learn about what's going on. If I manage to get back on the RDA today, I'll test out some of these new features that were reported by the dude Dogmann quoted.

You joined the party at the right time, as this wasn't always the case-
    I don't understand either.

wow kinetic scrolling in the contacts app. this might be enough to make me purchase the n97 now that's huge for them to do that and shows they were kinda serious about the "significant updates" promise with the n97.

Yeah mine arrived at 15:15 this afternoon think the build quality is great but so far Ovi suite has taken over 1hr and 25 minutes to install the options i chose and i didn't chose them all. Well at least it's letting the battery get a good charge before i start really using it. I have set up my WiFi and a couple of widgets along with the date and time and done a little Web browsing but that really wasn't very good at all. But I'll save all the gory details for my coming soon review.

I don't think there is anything anyone can say about the build quality, it's probably the most solid built slider I've ever gotten my mitts on. My friend checked it out for the first time last week when he came by my crib and the first thing he said was "It's solid but knowing you, you'd find a way to break this thing. All it takes it to step out of the car with it open on your lap and hit the pavement." then he added "Why the hell is the d-pad over here?".

I had to point out where the spacebar was and he didn't like it until I pointed out that his thumb was already resting on it.

It's worth mentioning because he uses an XPERIA X1

Hmmm this will be a deciding factor for me. Prices in canada have started to drop a bit...and if the majority of that change log is true then that may be enough to convince me.

the build quality for me is great except for one real annoying thing. the back battery cover squeaks when i press on it. this is evident when i'm typing on the screen and hear it squeak and flex.. kinda annoying, but i'm sure a little piece of tape or something on the inside of the battery cover should fix it..

Woah.. if that list of improvements is true, its a huge huge update! Here's to hoping. Adding the sweep to get back to the homescreen from some apps and menus would be pretty big too, I think.

Oh well, according to a post on M-R forum, this list has been confirmed as fake by a Nokia employee. It if it looks too good to be true..
