In 2000 (when I was still a stupid kid) I defaulted on a $300 FIDO phone bill. It went to collections and appeared on my credit report. It was deleted off my credit file after the 6 year statute of limitations and I know have good credit.
I now want to take my unlocked Blackberry Storm to FIDO. Will FIDO have my name blacklisted and refuse to activate my Storm? Will they ask for a deposit?
Anyway, in 2003 I was able to get a line with Rogers. However, since that collections was still showing up on my file Rogers told me that they would place a $250 cap on my account whereby they would cut service once my bill exceeded that cap.
Depending on your credit score, they might impose you a limit on your account (i.e. getting suspended if you go over, and that until you bring your balance below said limit) (could be at least 200$).
However, Fido don't ask for security deposits anymore.
As of that unpaid bill, I don't know if you will be "blacklisted" per se.
(However I admit that if you had a Rogers line, chances seems good)
