Now I need to know the reliability. I plan to leave VZ DSL because it's unreliable recently (that's why I have to get datajack on top of T-Mobile EM 3 in 1 even tethering is allowed).
I may get Home+mobile combo. I need a home modem and mifi for mobile.

As far as the last 12 months I've never lost service at home. As far as mobile (meaning physically moving down the road) goes you drop signal more than 3G no doubt but usually it's a momentary signal loss.
I love the MiFi over the 3G/4G data card. If Clear offers the 3G/4G MiFi soon that would be a great package of: Home Modem + Mobile MiFi.
Sprint Overdrive (OD) in north Atlanta, in 4G preferred mode. Tower is about one mile away, nearly at the same elevation but not line of sight; 4G signal at 20%, 3G at 80+%. Adjusting 3G/4G fail over doesn't help because the 4G signal is not completely absent. It is not clear at what 4G RSSI and CINR level does the fail over occur, it is certainly not user selectable. The only thing that helped was to adjust OD positioning near the window to maximize exposure to the antenna tower.

Change to a different test server. One that's closer to you. Try it also with a number of test servers in increasing distance from you
4G Wimax is very susceptible to weather and terrain, much more than 3G. The practical range is much shorter than 3G as well. 4G Wimax claimed ~4 miles coverage but in actual hand held devices it is probably 3000 feet.
sometimes i notice when using speedtest.net that the dl will take a fraction of a second but the dl speed sucks. i think its a glitch in the server or something because when you actually download something it is really fast. i have been more than happy with my service so far but i have to download large files for work alot and it works great compared to when i am on 3g service which feels like snail speed now.

It has a lot to do with which test server you're connected to. Choosing a different server can yield dramatically different results.
I think there's both an issue with the network and the Overdrives. In my testing of various laptop cards alone and with routers I would actually get faster speeds with Cradlepoint routers than with the card alone. It sounds like Mifi and Overdrive are always slower than cards alone so something is not ideal with them.
