Class 6 Micro SD for enV3?

The User's Manual for my enV3 says that it supports 16GB MicroSD cards. But it doesn't specify if the phone can or cannot support Class 4 or Class 6 flash memory. I really don't understand the difference other than '6' is supposed to be faster.

However, I've read that fast memory might not work (or might not work as fast) depending on whether the host device can support it. Something about clocking.

Anyway, does anyone know if the enV3 can use the Class 6 flash? And if so, does it make enough of a difference to warrant a higher price?

    Thanks!

Is that mentioned somewhere. Class 6 simply supports faster read/write/access speeds, it really shouldn't affect the device and just be treated as any regular memory card supporting whatever speeds the device supports (up to the card's class 6 maximum).

    John,

Take a look at this web site by SanDisk, one of the largest memory mfrs. I think the key is not wether LG devices support Class 2, 4, 6, or 8, but wether they spport the SDHC standard. SDHC stands for Secure Digital High Capacity. The number in the circle on your card is the rated speed in terms of the maximum MB/sec transfer speed that the memory can handle. The slot itself has to be SDHC compatible, which the enV Touch is. From there, you can put any speed you want in. microSDHC slots are also backwards compatible which means you can also use standard microSD cards.

If you have a class 6 microSDHC card, you should be good to go. If you are still shopping around for what to buy and you are wanting 4GB or higher, I think you'll do well with anything rated "4" or higher in an SDHC version. Smaller capacity cards can probably do well with "4" or lower speeds.

I have an 8GB "6" microSDHC card running fine in an older HTC Touch screen. My new LG enV Touch arrives this afternoon

    Makes sense now!

Thanks TEPhHm! That makes a lot of sense now. The support guys at Verizon couldn't help me ... go figure, eh? I read up on what you said and now I understand what does and doesn't work. For now, I got myself a 4GB Class 4, but I'll probably get a 16GB soon enough!

can anyone confirm that 16GB cards are supported? the telus version does not have this info in the manual, but the box states it supports 8GB max.

I picked up a sandisk on sale at Officemax. A 4gb with a rating of "2" in the little circle. For the life of me, I can't get it to work. Even if I format it, it doesn't make the subdirectories of pics, music, video, sounds. Could it be too slow or just a compatibility issue?
